Despite this recent change in women’s presence in public spaces, Iranian women, like in many other Muslim-majority societies in the Middle East, are still invisible in Western scholarship, not because of their hijabs but because of the political difficulties of doing field research in Iran. This dissertation serves as a timely contribution to the limited post-revolutionary ethnographic studies on Iranian women. The goal, here, is not to challenge the mainly Western critics of modern and often privatized public spaces, but instead, is to enrich the existing theories through including experiences of a more diverse group. Focusing on the women’s experience, preferences, and use of public spaces in Tehran through participant observation and interviews, photography, architectural sketching as well as GIS spatial analysis, I have painted a picture of the complicated relationship between the architecture styles, the gendering of spatial boundaries, and the contingent nature of public spaces that goes beyond the simple dichotomy of female- male, private-public, and modern-traditional.

Such research is important because it relates to the beginnings of the use of accounting and reckoning systems, which came to be one of the principal elements of institutionalized management and bureaucracies under urbanization and in historical periods. Tepe Zagheh is one of the key sites of the transitional period from Neolithic to Chalcolithic in the Qazvin Plain, having provided a considerable collection of tokens (counting objects) in addition to the various other pieces of cultural evidence that were discovered in the excavations carried out there. Thus 238 Zagheh tokens were available for typological study and theoretical analysis. The principal goals of this paper are to re-identify accounting and reckoning systems in Tepe Zagheh and to identify the evolutionary stages of these systems in Zagheh. It is apparent from implemented studies that Zagheh society had an early form of accounting system for keeping track of farm products and of animal counts, and that tokens were the principal devices used in this process. Comprehending the functions o f natural processes and threads can be an initiative for human societies to imitate and produce not only form, but also proper process and functioning. In this paper, the sound and shape of raindrops falling on a surface was used as a source of inspiration along with musical features such as rhythm, harmony, space and repetition to design a multi-purpose auditorium complex. This complex which was designed using the 3D MAX software is meant to serve as a place for holding conferences, lectures, galleries and concerts as well as a movie theater. The Post production software was also utilized to make some modifications on the design and the AUTOCAD software was used to generate 2-D plans. In addition to its bionic feature, this design acts as a reminder of the importance of Iran’s water scarcity issue the necessity of efficient use of rainwater. This issue can be further emphasized by building a musical fountain on the complex’s open grounds. The design of complex’s interior and exterior façades, structural form, and materials is based on combination of modern technology with innovative use of bionic design.

It is now more certain than ever and poses a serious threat to sustainable urban development. Climate change has many destructive effects on cities. Land subsidence, rising air pollutants, severe storms, dust and water scarcity are just some effects of this phenomenon in the urban area of Tehran. Urban management must be prepared to deal with these effects and adopt policies to mitigate and adapt to climate change. One of these tools in urban planning is urban development plans. The plans can have a great impact on controlling and counteracting with the effects of climate change. In this re- search, using content analysis method, 6 dimensions and 31 indicators have been used to evaluate 8 city and region development plans of Tehran from the view of reflecting the effects of climate change. Indicators were scored after studying the content of the plans. Findings indicate that among the reviewed plans, the second and third five-year development plans of Tehran with 61.9% and 61.3% as the highest rate and plan to reduce air pollution in Tehran and the transportation master plan with 20.6% and 23.2%, respectively have the least attention to the effects of climate change.

Received: 21 November 2016 Accepted: 27 September 2017 Abstract Purpose: This study was conducted to investigate the ecotourism development strategies in Chahardangeh District of Sari to provide an appropriate image of the current state, and to help identify (external and internal) factors effective in the regional tourism. Moreover, the study was set out to come up with appropriate applicable strategies for ecotourism development. Method: The study was conducted in a descriptive-analytical method and data was collected by library research and field-work (questionnaires, observation, interviews). Findings: The total score of internal factors and external factors were 2.51 and 2.57 respectively. This demonstrated that the management of ecotourism activities with regard to internal and external factors is in a favorable, and higher than moderate state, and it is also in an aggressive mode, but the figures obtained are very close to other strategies, which will change if there is no proper planning. Practical implications: In order to develop ecotourism in Chahardangeh District and enjoy its benefits, in the first place, the local community needs to receive the training necessary for ecotourism management and development; then, they should gain access to essential facilities required for ecotourism management, and they should encourage public participation.
