But there’s no question in my mind about the vital role Reel Asian has played over the course of eight festivals in championing work that tends to get lost at other, bigger festivals. Exposing the local audience to films by emerging East and Southeast Asian filmmakers, particularly North American ones, has been central to Reel Asian’s programming mandate from the beginning.
