The cooperation between Italian and French cinema has always been rich and dynamic. In fact, the first international coproduction agreement in history was signed between Italy and France, in 1946. A great number of films have been coproduced in the past, among which many are works of art and veritable milestones in the history of cinema. We have admired and shared great stars, famous the world over, and for many it was difficult to tell whether they were French or Italian. That is how famous they were and how familiar their faces were in both our countries. As time went by, this relationship has faded and coproduction has been reduced to a minimum.
