Dakini Teachings, Vol. Eastern philosophy—Buddhism. Padmasambhava Dakini Teachings Cent. Ye shes mtsho rgyal 8th Cent. Sangs rgyas gling pa — Dakini Teachings is a collection of advice selected Dakini Teachings several revealed Dakini Teachings teachings, or . This advice was recorded by Dakini Teachings chief disciple, the dakini Yeshe Tsogyal, the princess of Kharchen. She served Guru Rinpoche during his stay in Tibet and afterward practiced with Dakini Teachings perseverance so that she finally became equal to Guru Rinpoche himself. Her compassion is matchless and her blessings are unceasing. Yeshe Tsogyal wrote these oral instructions down in a secret code language called dakini script and concealed them as precious terma treasures to be revealed by tertons many centuries later. Guru Rinpoche himself predicted the Dakini Teachings, names, and periods of the revealers. The teachings they would receive, in actuality or in visions, would be appropriate for Dakini Teachings people in their own and in following generations. Almost every chapter in this book mentions that these teachings were given for the Dakini Teachings of practitioners of Dakini Teachings generations and includes the words: May this meet with all worthy and destined people in the future! The manuscripts that I have used were kept in the Royal Danish Library, having been brought back from a Dakini Teachings monastery by an explorer of central Asia many decades ago. When His Holiness visited the library inhe asked Dakini Teachings be shown all the Dakini Teachings handwritten manuscripts and decided to have photocopies made of six volumes of books that were unavailable at that time in India. When later I presented Ven. with the book, he expressed great delight in reading it and gave me much encouragement in preparing this Dakini Teachings. had found this text important enough to include in Dakini Teachings sixtieth volume of the Rinchen Terdzo. In comparing these two manuscripts, I found that both contained invaluable advice by Padmasambhava that was sometimes identical and sometimes totally different. They were obviously from two entirely different sources, the first of which had not been available to Jamgon Dakini Teachings when preparing the Rinchen Terdzo. Even the mistakes were not the same in the two versions. Therefore I relied on a third collection of termas Dakini Teachings the fourteenth-century master Sangye Lingpa. Parts of this collection were almost identical in wording with the terma of Nyang Ral Nyima Oser. The reason for the duplication is that both masters, in their former lives, were present when Guru Rinpoche gave the teaching. There was enough material in these three collections to fill four additional books of English translation, so I selected what seemed to be most appropriate for the present day and age. Nyang Ral is considered the first of the five terton kings prophesied by Guru Rinpoche. His experience blazed Dakini Teachings for a whole month. Upon receiving the empowerments he had the experience of the sky breaking Dakini Teachings and the earth and mountains trembling, and he started to act in various strange ways to such an extent Dakini Teachings everyone thought he had gone insane. His father then gave him the empowerment of Hayagriva, and after practicing in retreat he had a Dakini Teachings the deity and his phurba dagger emitted the neigh of a horse and he left imprints Dakini Teachings his hands and feet in solid rock. In accordance with a prediction from the dakinis, he went to Mawo Choqi Draktsa, where he was given the name Nyima Oser Beam of Sunlight by the wisdom dakinis. After this he was renowned under that name. Guru Rinpoche appeared to Nyang Ral Nyima Oser in person and gave him the lists of termas he was to reveal. Accordingly, he revealed many volumes of terma teachings, among which the best known is the Kagye Desheg Dupaa cycle of teachings focusing on the eight , and his revealed biography of Guru Rinpoche, known as Dakini Teachings. During his life he maintained a balance between practicing in retreat and teaching others. His activity stretched Dakini Teachings the corners of the world and had a tremendous impact on the continuation of the . In the year of the Male Wood Dakini Teachings he passed away at the age of sixty-nine, accompanied by many wonderful signs. In that way I was able to offer my humble service to these teachings. Here is some information describing how Nyima Oser received the actual terma from which the Dakini Teachings is taken, extracted Dakini Teachings his biography called Dakini Teachings Clear Mirrorwhich is found in the second volume of Kagye Desheg Dupa. Later, when I stayed in retreat practicing guru at the Pear Crystal Cave of Pama Gong, one evening a white girl appeared and said she was Yeshe Tsogyal. She wore a blue dress with an apron and a shirt of white silk and said, Yogi, what do you want? Then I will give you that, she said, and she handed me a casket with the Dakini Teachings of of the dakinis as well as the cycles of questions and answers. Dakini Teachings she said, Son, come Dakini Teachings me to the Sitavana charnel ground! Padma and the eight great vidyadharas as well as numerous other worthy yogis are holding a great Dharma assembly. We, the dakinis, are holding a great feast gathering, so come! We went there and I saw the great charnel ground; it was intimidating and frightening and Dakini Teachings for unworthy people to approach. In the center sat a yogi with light brown skin on a huge throne made out of precious stones. Has wandering in samsara been a strain for you? He told me then to sit down on a heap of human bones. I sat down. In front of him there was a big adorned with numerous ornaments encircled by a latticework of light rays. In the eight directions around it I saw that the eight vidyadharas of India and Tibet sat with smiling faces. I was overjoyed. Then the same girl asked me, Son, do you want to Dakini Teachings a feast gathering or the wheel of Dharma? In reply I said, Please turn the wheel of Dharma for me. The Dakini Teachings in the center, who said he was Padmasambhava, also known as Padmakara, gave me the great empowerment of the Assemblage of the Peaceful and Wrathful Sugatas. He also gave me the books and taught me the melodies for the chanting. All the vidyadharas then simultaneously gave the Dakini Teachings for learning and retaining, the empowerment for meditating and Dakini Teachings, the empowerment for explaining and teaching, the empowerment for taming beings through the activities, the empowerment for the all- encompassing command of a vajra king, and the empowerment for the expression of awareness. Having received all these empowerments in their entirety, I was given a white conch and told to return home. The very moment I heard that, the whole scenery of the charnel ground and all Dakini Teachings masters vanished just like vapor disappearing from a mirror. When I regained my senses, I found that I was back in my meditation hut. The second terma that I used for comparison for clearing up the spelling mistakes and omissions when preparing Dakini Teachings was revealed Dakini Teachings Sangye Lingpa — He took birth in Kongpo, the southeastern province of Tibet, in the year of the Male Iron Dragon, the same year that the fourth , Rolpey Dorje, was born. In he revealed Dakini Teachings Gongdue cycle of teachings, his most important terma. Sangye Lingpa is also counted among the five terton kings. Lastly, Dakini Teachings finishes with a chapter by the terton Guru Dorje Lingpa containing the last words of Padmasambhava. Dorje Lingpa — was one of five major Dakini Teachings of hidden treasures in Tibet renowned as the five terton kings. I would like to thank everyone who contributed to the preparation of this book, especially His Holiness Dilgo Khyentse and Ven. Tulku Urgyen Rinpoche for Dakini Teachings directions and Dakini Teachings. Marcia Binder Schmidt for rechecking the translation and overseeing the work at all stages, Mim Coulstock for editing, and Phinjo Sherpa for word-processing assistance. I am delighted that these precious teachings are now appearing in the English language. Reading or listening to someone else read the Dakini Teachings will then be close to being in the presence of Guru Rinpoche. Just as these teachings have touched me, may they touch the hearts of many other people and be a continual source Dakini Teachings inspiration. This short life story of Padmasambhava, also known as Guru Rinpoche or Padmakara, is extracted from The Precious Garland of Lapis Lazuli, a collection Dakini Teachings life stories of the main tertons written by Jamgon Kongtrul the First and found in volume 1 of his Rinchen Terdzo. Padmakara has influenced countless beings through the teachings and in particular through the activity of the profound terma treasures. This great master was not an ordinary person on the path or just a noble being on one of the bhumis but an emanation of both Buddha Amitabha and Shakyamuni Dakini Teachings appeared in order to tame the human beings and spirits who are difficult to convert. Even the great are incapable of fully explaining his life example, but in brief I will narrate it as follows. In the dharmakaya realm of the Luminous Vajra Essence, Guru Rinpoche has by nature attained perfect enlightenment since the very beginning as the liberated ground of primordial purity. He is renowned as the original protector, Unchanging Light. In the self-manifest Dakini Teachings realm of the Thunder of the Drum of Perfection, he spontaneously manifested as the boundless wisdom array of the five families of Buddha Immense Dakini Teachings possessing the five certainties. As the external manifestation of this self-appearing display, in the countless displays of bodily forms in buddha-fields of the five families comprised of the semimanifest natural nirmanakaya realms of Mahabrahma, he appears to all the bodhisattvas on the ten bhumis. By the power of these wisdom displays he appears in countless worlds of the ten directions as the magical apparition of nirmanakayas who tame beings. In particular, Dakini Teachings is taught that only in this saha world system he illuminates fifty worlds with the lamp of the teachings Dakini Teachings and appearing as the eight manifestations to tame beings in the different parts of the world. The dakini Yeshe Tsogyal Dakini Teachings a vision in which she saw a manifestation of Guru Rinpoche called Immense Vajra Ocean in the direction to the east. Each of the pores in his body held one billion realms and in each realm there were one billion world systems. In each of these world systems there Dakini Teachings one billion Guru , who each created one billion emanations. Each of these emanations carried out the activity of taming one billion disciples. She then saw the same display in each of the other directions and in the center. The history of The Oral Transmission of Kilaya and most Indian sources explain that he was born as the son of a king or a minister in Uddiyana, whereas the terma Dakini Teachings for the most part narrate that he was miraculously born. Dakini Teachings some texts he is said to have appeared from a bolt of lightning at the summit of Mount Malaya. Each of these wondrous stories differs Dakini Teachings many ways. I shall now limit the explanation down to a mere seed, the life of Guru Rinpoche according to miraculous birth as it appears in the terma teachings. In the land of Uddiyana situated to the west of Bodhgaya there was an island in Lake Danakosha, on which appeared a multicolored lotus flower through the blessings of the buddhas. Buddha Amitabha sent from his heart center a golden vajra marked with the letter HRIH into the bud of this lotus flower, which miraculously turned into a small child eight years of age holding a vajra and a lotus and adorned with Dakini Teachings major and minor marks.
