Other major contenders that received major nominations were The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, Guillermo del Toro’s Pacific Rim, Star Trek Into Darkness, The Book Thief, Her, Oz The Great anD Powerful and Ron Howard’s Rush. Also making a strong showing was the folk music fable InsiDe Llewyn Davis from Joel and Ethan Coen highlighting their magnificent and original work. And Scarlett Johansson was the first Best Supporting Actress to be nominated for her captivating vocal performance in Spike Jones’ fantasy romance Her. For the Saturn’s stellar 40th Anniversary celebration, two new categories have been added to reflect the changing times; Best Comic-to-Film Motion Picture will see Warner’s Man of Steel duking it out against Marvel’s Iron Man 3, Thor: The Dark WorlD and The Wolverine! Like every commercial and not for profi t organisation, Tri NZ has needed to keep eyes fi xed on the ball during these tougher economic times. However, as a result of exceptional dedication and innovative management by Dave Beeche and the team our organisation is now in the position where we are presented with some of the most signifi cant opportunities the sport of triathlon has seen here in New Zealand. The Board continues to review and test our Strategic Plan At the ITU World Champs in Budapest, Hungary last and its relevance for our organisation and the sport of September, a solid number of Kiwi age groupers donned triathlon. We are committed to retaining our strong focus the silver fern to swim in a very cool river Danube then bike on the ‘three Ps’ (Pathways, Profi le and Performance), and and run around the historic streets of this truly amazing city. -

TO: NZRL Staff, Districts and Affiliates and Board FROM: Cushla Dawson DATE: 09 February 2009 RE: Media Summary Tuesday 03 February to Monday 09 February 2009 NZRL loses its shirt as company goes bust: THE cash-strapped New Zealand Rugby League is set to lose the shirt off its back. The company that makes the World Cup winner's jersey is reported to have gone into administration. Sydney's Sun-Herald newspaper is today reporting the Australian division of International Sports Clothing which also supplies the Air New Zealand Cup's Manawatu and Bay of Plenty unions, six NRL clubs, Australian Super 14 franchises and two AFL teams has been placed in administration. Tough times ahead as crisis hits clubs: PARRAMATTA chief executive Denis Fitzgerald says he is open to offers to privatise the club amid fears some NRL teams may not survive the global economic crisis. The financial downturn has already had a severe impact on rugby league, with several clubs reporting that sponsors have either pulled the pin or are struggling to fulfil their commitments. While there are no current expressions of interest in buying into the Eels, Fitzgerald confirmed privatisation could be an option to ensure the club weathers the financial storm. Enjoy the calm before the Storm: Hamilton City council expects a good turnout and a profitable day when the Warriors play the Storm next Thursday. The Hamilton City Council is confident next Thursday's New Zealand Warriors-Melbourne Storm rugby league clash will be a financial success. It says that because neither team is being paid an appearance fee the city will break even if it sells 8000 tickets. -

Actor Alicia Witt Turns Musician with 'Revisionary History'
ALICIA WITT Alicia Witt has had an over three-decade long career, starting with her acting debut as Alia in David Lynch's classic ‘Dune’. Alicia received rave reviews for her role as Paula in Season 6 of AMC’s critically acclaimed series The Walking Dead. Witt also appeared during Season 4 of ABC’s ‘Nashville’ as country star Autumn Chase and in the new Twin Peaks on Showtime, reprising her role as Gerstein Hayward. Witt most recently was seen haunting John Cho’s character as Demon Nikki on Season 2 of Fox’s The Exorcist; other recent credits include the Emmy-award winning Showtime series ‘House of Lies’ opposite Don Cheadle and the hit WB series ‘Supernatural’. Witt is also well known to Hallmark audiences for her annual Christmas movies; her latest, which she co-wrote and is producing, will be released later this year. She can also be seen this fall as Marjorie Cameron in Season 2 of anthology series Lore, on Amazon. In 2014, Alicia joined the 5th Season of Emmy-award winning FX series ‘Justified’ with Timothy Olyphant. Alicia played Wendy Crowe, the smart and sexy paralegal sister of crime lord Daryl Crowe (Michael Rapaport) who takes matters into her own hands to bring him to justice in the Season 5 finale. On stage, she most recently appeared at the Geffen Playhouse in the Los Angeles debut of Tony-nominated Neil Labute play ‘reasons to be pretty’. In 2013, Alicia appeared opposite Peter Bogdanovich and Cheryl Hines in the independent family dramedy 'Cold Turkey', in a performance which NY Daily News critic David Edelstein hailed as one of the best of 2013. -

Annual Highland Park Yard Sale
ANNUAL HIGHLAND PARK YARD SALE Thanks - See you at the Sale Judy Wolfe Remember the last time you walked into your basement/attic/anyroom and thought "I really should get rid of all this stuff". Well, once again your Community Club is going to offer their help, and sponsor the Annual Highland Park Community Yard Sale. From 9:00 A.M. through whenever we quit, on Sunday June 6, 2004, we, as a neighborhood, will get together and sell all that wonderful stuff, junk, clothing, collectibles, - what ever. For the low, low price of $12 the Community Club takes care of the advertising (in newspapers, Pennysaver, on telephone poles, and in store windows), we make maps of yard sale locations, lists of the items for sale, and distribute these maps and lists on the day of the sale. Last year, as in previous years, we had about 100 famiilies participating (selling) and gave out about 800 maps to people from all over the city and county (my Mom even came from Atlanta one year just for this sale). Just send your check for $12 (MADE OUT TO THE HPCC) to me - Judy Wolfe at: 5910 Wellesley Avenue, Pittsburgh PA 15206 with the information below(by May 29, please). If you want to help me out putting up notices or in the distribution on maps and lists on the day of the sale, please call me at 412 441-7830. I would really appreciate your help.
