Rage Against the Machine to Perform at Festival D’Été De Québec in 2022! Press Release For immediate release Rage Against the Machine to Perform at Festival d’Été de Québec in 2022! Quebec City, April 8, 2021 - Good news for festival-goers. Rage Against the Machine has confirmed their presence for the 2022 edition of Festival d’été de Québec! The legendary band will hit the Bell Stage on the Plains of Abraham on Saturday July 16, two years after their 2020 show was cancelled. This extremely rare visit to the province of Quebec, where they have not set foot in over 25 years, will mark their very first appearance in Québec City. The band's reunion in 2019 created a buzz among fans and the rumour mill predicted that Zack de la Rocha and company would come to Quebec City. It is now confirmed: the FEQ is on RATM's 2022 festival circuit! “This is excellent and very timely news for music fans. Following the challenges our industry has faced since 2020, this very first RATM stopover on the Plains will definitely be a great moment, both in the history of the FEQ and for the revival of our industry” underscored Louis Bellavance, director of programming for Festival d'été de Québec. About Rage Against the Machine Formed in Los Angeles in the early 1990s, Rage Against the Machine experienced a meteoric rise in 1992 following the release of their first eponymous album, featuring mega hits Killing in the Name and Bombtrack. • Honour Killing in Sindh Men's and Women's Divergent Accounts
Honour Killing in Sindh Men's and Women's Divergent Accounts Shahnaz Begum Laghari PhD University of York Women’s Studies March 2016 Abstract The aim of this project is to investigate the phenomenon of honour-related violence, the most extreme form of which is honour killing. The research was conducted in Sindh (one of the four provinces of Pakistan). The main research question is, ‘Are these killings for honour?’ This study was inspired by a need to investigate whether the practice of honour killing in Sindh is still guided by the norm of honour or whether other elements have come to the fore. It is comprised of the experiences of those involved in honour killings through informal, semi- structured, open-ended, in-depth interviews, conducted under the framework of the qualitative method. The aim of my thesis is to apply a feminist perspective in interpreting the data to explore the tradition of honour killing and to let the versions of the affected people be heard. In my research, the women who are accused as karis, having very little redress, are uncertain about their lives; they speak and reveal the motives behind the allegations and killings in the name of honour. The male killers, whom I met inside and outside the jails, justify their act of killing in the name of honour, culture, tradition and religion. Drawing upon interviews with thirteen women and thirteen men, I explore and interpret the data to reveal their childhood, educational, financial and social conditions and the impacts of these on their lives, thoughts and actions.

UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA Los Angeles Not All Killed by John Wayne: The Long History of Indigenous Rock, Metal, and Punk 1940s to the Present A thesis submitted in partial satisfaction of the requirements for the degree Master of Arts in American Indian Studies by Kristen Le Amber Martinez 2019 © Copyright by Kristen Le Amber Martinez 2019 ABSTRACT OF THESIS Not All Killed by John Wayne: Indigenous Rock ‘n’ Roll, Metal, and Punk History 1940s to the Present by Kristen Le Amber Martinez Master of Arts in American Indian Studies University of California Los Angeles, 2019 Professor Maylei Blackwell, Chair In looking at the contribution of Indigenous punk and hard rock bands, there has been a long history of punk that started in Northern Arizona, as well as a current diverse scene in the Southwest ranging from punk, ska, metal, doom, sludge, blues, and black metal. Diné, Apache, Hopi, Pueblo, Gila, Yaqui, and O’odham bands are currently creating vast punk and metal music scenes. In this thesis, I argue that Native punk is not just a cultural movement, but a form of survivance. Bands utilize punk and their stories as a conduit to counteract issues of victimhood as well as challenge imposed mechanisms of settler colonialism, racism, misogyny, homophobia, notions of being fixed in the past, as well as bringing awareness to genocide and missing and murdered Indigenous women. Through D.I.Y. and space making, bands are writing music which ii resonates with them, and are utilizing their own venues, promotions, zines, unique fashion, and lyrics to tell their stories.

  • From the Ashes of Two Great Bands, Audioslave Was Born. with Singer
Untitled Document http://www.elsegundousd.com/eshs/be04-05/juneaudios.htm From the ashes of two great bands, Audioslave was born. With singer Chris Cornell, guitarist Tom Morello, drummer Brad Wilk, and bassist Tim Commerford, they have created a monster of a band. Following up their very successful 2002 self-titled debut, Audioslave is delivering another awesome rock album. Audioslave formed in our home Los Angeles, California in 2001. When political band, Rage Against the Machine used their music to protest the actions of the government broke up in late 2000 when lead singer Zech De La Rocha announced he was leaving the band. Morello, Wilk, and Commerford need a singer and rumors started to float around that ex-Soundgarden lead singer Chris Cornell would take that place. In 2001 they did form a band together. Many people thought it would sound like Rage Against the Machine, and some thought it would sound like another Soundgarden, but they were wrong. Although Morello kept his flare for the weirdest and cool sounding guitar solos, and Cornell kept his melodic quiet to a loud singing voice the band has its own unique sound. This new album Out of Exile still holds onto the sound Audioslave made, but there have been many changes, many good changes. In this album Morello, Wilk, and Commerford have really started playing up to their potential. Morello as more defined guitar riffs and licks, and his solos have only gotten better. Drummer Wilk has sped up on his drumming and has added a lot of new beats and fills.

Vocalist and rapper Zack de la Rocha, guitarist Tom Morello, bassist and backup vocalist Tim Commerford, and drummer Brad Wilk crafted an electrifying and unforgettable brand of politically charged rap-rock that launched them to instant commercial and critical success with their self-titled debut. It's incredibly Rage Against the Machine: Stage Fighters for any commercially successful artist to be able to remain true to their political ideals, but RATM somehow managed to Rage Against the Machine: Stage Fighters that incredibly thin tightrope with each new album until their breakup in It's not surprising that a band with controversial political views would encounter strife and challenges during their career. In fact, the personal tragedies and struggles of the band members had a heavy hand in directing their ideals. It's because of the long, hard road to finding their voices that songs like "Killing in the Name" and "Bulls on Parade" still resonate today. • Anger Is a Gift: Propaganda, Performance E Documentário Nos Rage Against the Machine
Palavras-chave: Rage Against the Machine, documentário, videoclip, propaganda.
