When I travel out of Schenectady, I tend to go west. Traffic thins, and I love the Mohawk Valley. The drive along route five offers lovely vistas of the river. It is my own personal continuation of walking in Riverside Park. My favorite place is the Schoharie Crossing in Fort Hunter. It is here where the meets the , just past number twelve in Tribes Hill. In summer the creek is a busy boat launch, often filled with children, frisbies and picnics enjoyed in the shade. Here I can gaze on the aqueduct engineers designed during work on the Erie .
