Ugotovljenih je 40 različnih lities at Poljšica near Podnart, Slovenia. Quitmyeri The zooarchaeological remains from a stratigraphic sequence excavated from the ceremonial site of Cinnamon Bay, St. John, U.S. Virgin Islands, were studied. The samples were recovered using a fine-gauge (1/16 in) screen. During the course of this study, 443 minimum numbers of individuals and 99 species of vertebrates and invertebrates were identified. The fauna was analyzed by estimating the trophic level of reef, inshore, and pelagic zooarchaeological components from three strata representing the Monserrate (ca. A.D. 950), Santa Elena (ca. A.D. 570), and Chican (ca. A.D. 460) ceramic periods. The trophic level model shows an initial increase in the trophic level of taxa from the reef between the Monserrate and Santa Elena periods. This initial increase corresponds to the exponential growth of midden density. Relative to the earlier faunal assemblages, midden density and the mean trophic level of reef resources declines during the Chican period. Greater reliance on pelagic species from the deeper waters offshore and the increased use of mollusks from inshore habitats is also seen. The data show that at low levels of cultural complexity humans can alter their environments. This is particularly true of island biota where biological reservoirs are small. In total, 2801 DNA barcodes belonging to 569 species from China, Japan and Korea were analyzed. An overlap between intra- and interspecific genetic distances was present in 71 species. We tested the efficacy of this library by simulating a sequence-based specimen identification scenario using Best Match (BM), Best Close Match (BCM) and All Species Barcode (ASB) criteria with three threshold values. BM approach returned 89.15% true identifications (95.27% when excluding singletons). The highest success rate of congruent identifications was obtained with BCM at 0.053 threshold. The analysis of our barcode library together with public data resulted in 582 Barcode Index Numbers (BINs), 72.2% of which was found to be concordantly with morphology-based identifications. The discrepancies were divided in two groups: sequences from different species clustered in a single BIN and conspecific sequences divided in one more BINs. In Neighbour-Joining phenogram, 2,320 (83.0%) queries fromed 355 (62.4%) species-specific barcode clusters allowing their successful identification. 33 species showed paraphyletic and haplotype sharing. 62 cases are represented by deeply diverged lineages. This study suggest an increased species diversity in this region, highlighting taxonomic revision and conservation strategy for the cryptic complexes.

LADD* [Manuscript received September 6, 1966] Summary The hearts from a number of estuarine molluscs typical of eastern Australian waters have been examined for their response to acetylcholine, adrenaline, nor­ adrenaline, and serotonin. Under the conditions of these experiments Anadara trapezia showed the highest sensitivity to acetylcholine, being depressed by 0·001 p.g/ml. Adrenaline in concentrations of 0·005 p.g/ml produced a decrease in the amplitude of contractions of Regozara flava heart which also responded to 0·01 p.g/ml noradren­ aline. Hearts from other species did not respond to catecholamines. Fragum unedo and Regozara jlava heart showed greatest sensitivity to serotonin 'which increased amplitude of contraction. Pinna menkei heart was unresponsive to myotropic substances under the conditions used. The factors affecting sensitivity of response to myotropic substances are discussed. 1. INTRODUCTION The phylum Mollusca has been shown to contain a number of species which display remarkable sensitivity to various vertebrate transmitter substances. Thus the cephalopod heart responds to concentrations of adrenaline and noradrenaline which are of the same order as those which produce a response in mammalian tissue (for references see Fange 1962). Gaddum and Paasonen (1955) were able to detect 1 X lO-4 /Lg/ml serotonin using the isolated heart of Spisula solida (Dillwyn) and Prosser (1940) showed that Mercenaria (= Venus) mercenaria (L.) heart responded to 1 X lO-6 /Lg/ml acetylcholine. PUFFER2 INTRODUCTION In the fall of 1940, the Geological Society of America and the Scripps Institution of Oceanography jointly sponsored a scientific expedition to the Gulf of California for the purpose of undertaking geologic and oceano- graphic studies. With the auxiliary schooner "E. W. Scripps" as a base of operations, the work of the expedition was mnainly concentrated re- gionally in four relatively small areas, namely: Tiburon Island and Guaymas, Sonora, and Carmen Island and Concepcion Bay, Baja Cali- fornia, Mexico (see location map, fig. 1). The results of the investiga- tions are summarized in a volume pertaining to the geology, paleontology, submarine topography, sedimentation, and oceanography of these general areas (Anderson et al., 1950). Largely through the efforts of the expedition's paleontologist, J. Wyatt Durham, a sizable collection of Recent metazoan marine invertebrates, mostly mollusks, was obtained. Owing to the necessity of concentrating on geological and paleontological field work, the limitations of time per- mitted only incidental collecting of modern invertebrates. Nevertheless, significant intertidal and subtidal collections were made. Though the ma- terial from tlle intertidal zone is represented mainly by dead, beach-worn specimens, some of the records indicate extensions of the known geogra- phical ranges for several of the species. Gambaran Lokasi Penelitian Pantai Pasir Putih merupakan salah satu dari berbagai obyek wisata yang berlokasi di Kabupaten Trenggalek. Pantai tersebut tersusun dari daratan berupa pasir putih dan lautan berbentuk cekungan yang daerah pesisirnya terdapat dinding karang dari ujung barat sampai ujung timur. Pantai Pasir Putih terletak di Desa Tasikmadu Kecamatan Watulimo sekitar 48 km dari pusat kota Trenggalek dengan panjang pantai 1,5 km. Adapun peta lokasi Kabupaten Trenggalek dapat dilihat pada Gambar 4.1 sebagai berikut.
