By Green Purse PR 2019 HOLIDAYS LIST FOR FOOD MARKETING by Green Purse PR Created for the specialty food & natural products industry in the USA A SOCIAL MEDIA PLANNING RESOURCE FOR 2019 Thank you for downloading Green Purse PR’s 2019 holidays list for food marketing. I hope this will be a useful resource to you as you plan and implement your social media content for 2019. Part of the work we do here at Green Purse PR for our clients in the natural products industry is plan their social media programs. Having a list like this on hand allows us to more easily plan in advance to leverage some of the holidays that relate most to our clients. We’ve included only the holidays we believe to be most worthwhile for the type of clients we work with across the natural products and specialty food industries. This 15-page guide contains 420 holidays – mostly food holidays, but also some non-food holidays related to health and wellness, as well as country holidays as many natural and specialty food products here in the American market come from all over the world and American consumers love trying different cuisines. Some may be tempted to think that these so called food holidays or marketing holidays are silly, but make no mistake, the reality is, some are quite serious. Serious enough that they can help drive real awareness and sales. Retailers, media and consumer-influencers, like food bloggers and nutritionists, are showcasing these holidays on social media, like Instagram, and retailers are even using them for in-store shopper marketing. If you’re curious to learn how other leading brands and retailers are already celebrating these holidays, don’t miss our bonus content. To accompany this list of holidays, we’ve created a thought leadership webinar, where I share some of my expert tips on how to get the most out of holidays with your own company’s social media marketing. I’ll also share some of my favorite examples from companies creating content around holidays, like Halloween, Ramadan, National Coffee Day and National Picnic Day. Instructions on how to access the webinar are on the last page of this guide. Happy planning! • THE HISTORY of VETERANS DAY - Courtesy of US Department of Veterans’ Affairs
NOVEMBER 2014 Published by Greene County Department of Human Services since 1976 THE HISTORY OF VETERANS DAY - Courtesy of US Department of Veterans’ Affairs World War I – known at the time as “The Great War” - officially ended when the Treaty of Versailles was signed on June 28, 1919, in the Palace of Versailles outside the town of Versailles, France. However, fighting ceased seven months earlier when an armistice, or temporary cessation of hostilities, between the Allied nations and Germany went into effect on the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month. For that reason, November 11, 1918, is generally regarded as the end of “the war to end all wars.” Soldiers of the 353rd Infantry near a church at Stenay, Meuse in France, wait for the end of hostilities. This photo was taken at 10:58 a.m., on No- vember 11, 1918, two minutes before the armistice ending World War I went into effect In November 1919, President Wilson proclaimed November 11 as the first commemoration of Armistice Day with the following words: "To us in America, the reflections of Armistice Day will be filled with solemn pride in the heroism of those who died in the country’s service and with gratitude for the victory, both because of the thing from which it has freed us and be- cause of the opportunity it has given America to show her sympathy with peace and justice in the councils of the nations…" The original concept for the celebration was for a day observed with parades, public meetings and a brief suspension of business beginning at 11:00 a.m.
