Brant Bjork and the Low Desert Punk Band (USA) Genre: Stoner Rock Label: Napalm Records Album Titel: Black Power Flower Spielzeit: 49:22 VÖ: 14.11.2014 Band: Brant Bjork And The Low Desert Punk Band (USA) Genre: Stoner Rock Label: Napalm Records Album Titel: Black Power Flower Spielzeit: 49:22 VÖ: 14.11.2014 Multiinstrumentalist, Drummer und Gründungsmitglied der, sich leider aufgelösten, Stoner-Legende Kyuss, Brant Bjork, hat ein Starensemble um sich geschart und startet dieser Tage mit seiner The Low Desert Punk Band und dem Album "Black Power Flower" durch. Die mir hier vorliegende Stones Rock Scheibe bietet alles was das Stoner Herz glücklich macht. Eine ordentliche Portion Blues, gepaart mit scheppernden Drums, tief gestimmte Gitarren, die teilweise richtig kratzig daherkommen, sowie einen kräftigen Schuss Doom. Dieser Schuss erinnert ein ums andere Mal an Black Sabbath, was den Stücken aber sehr gut steht. Natürlich bringt das alles auch einen ordentlichen Groove mit sich, was ob der Instrumentalisierung gar nicht vermeidbar wäre. Auch die kleinen psychedelischen Einschübe passen sehr gut und lassen schon mal einen Gedanken an die 70er zu. Die Vocals sind leicht hintergründig gehalten, gehen aber nie unter oder gar verloren. Dies lässt der Musik so viel Raum wie möglich, um sich voll entfalten zu können. Im Endeffekt harmoniert aber Gesang und Musik wunderbar miteinander. Manchmal entsteht auch ein "gewolltes" Chaos, was sich am Ende aber auch wieder als sehr Song-dienlich herausstellt. Melodien sind hier natürlich nicht wirklich vorhanden, vielmehr reihen sich Riffs aneinander, die für eine gewisse Harmonie und im Zusammenspiel mit den anderen Instrumenten, für große Stoner Momente sorgen. Fazit: Gut das ich mich entschlossen habe, dieses Album zu besprechen. Ich hätte sonst das Genre-Highlight des Jahres verpasst. Brant Bjork versteht es großartige Stoner Rock Momente zu erschaffen und bietet dem geneigten Hörer alles was dieses Genre ausmacht. Wer Kyuss nachtrauert, sollte schleunigst den nächsten Shop anklicken und sich "Black Power Flower" vorbestellen(welche natürlich kein Kyuss Abklatsch ist), denn mit dieser Scheibe ist Trost gewiss. Ihr bekommt ein Referenzwerk des Genres! If the 1980s had been the golden age of heavy metal, the age when heavy metal was accepted by the masses and climbed the charts, the 1990s saw the fragmentation of the genre into rather different styles, that simply expanded on ideas of the 1980s. As usual, pop-metal, the genre that appealed to the masses, was, artistically speaking, the least significant variant of heavy metal. It spawned stars such as Los Angeles' Warrant, with Cherry Pie (1990); Boston's Extreme, who specialized in "metal-operas" a` la Queen such as Pornograffiti (1990); and Pennsylvania's Live, with Throwing Copper (1994); etc. Los Angeles had to live with remnants of its "street-scene" (Guns N' Roses, Jane's Addiction), although they sounded a lot less sincere and a lot less powerful than the original masters: Ugly Kid Joe, Life Sex And Death, Dishwalla, Ednaswap, etc. Glam-metal staged a comeback of sorts in Florida with Marilyn Manson (1), the product of Brian Warner's deranged mind.
