Saxophonist, flutist, composer and arranger.

Born on February 23rd, 1969 in the city of Niteroi (, ) Marcelo Martins has a consolidated career that began in childhood. At just eight years old, the musician began his studies at the Orquestra Tipica La Salle. The artist also studied with saxophonist and flutist, Renato Franco, music theory at the Conservatory of Music of the State of Rio de Janeiro, harmony and improvisation with Sérgio Benevenuto, Blas Rivera and later, harmony and arrangement with the conductor and trombonist Vittor Santos.

He has already recorded and worked with several personalities of brazilian music, among them, Djavan (since 1990), Antonio Adolfo, Cesar Camargo Mariano, Eumir Deodato, & Flora Purim, Ed Motta, Gilberto Gil, João Bosco, Leila Pinheiro, Moacir Santos, and Ivan Lins.

Marcelo released his first solo CD, "Do Outro Lado", which was chosen by the critic Carlos Calado as one of the 10 best CDs of 2013.

For some years, he has also participated as a teacher in saxophone workshops at several music festivals.

Currently is also a member of the Atlantic Orchestra as co- founder alongside Jesse Sadoc, Aldivas Ayres and Danilo Sinna, where he works as an arranger, composer and saxophonist. The Orchestra has performed in concerts throughout Brazil, and recorded “Altlantic Orchestra”, its first CD (contemplated by the FUNARTE 2012 Instrumental Music Award), and its second CD “Antônio Adolfo - Encontros - Orquestra Atlântica” alongside the pianist and composer Antonio Adolfo. The last album was released in USA (2018) by the AA Music label, and was nominated for the Latin Grammy Awards (2019) in the sound engineering category.
