CHINA ENERGY ENGINEERING CORPORATION LIMITED* (A joint stock company incorporated in the People’s Republic of China with limited liability) (Stock Code: 3996) VOLUNTARY ANNOUNCEMENT ENTERING INTO AN INVESTMENT AGREEMENT FOR THE MEISHAN VIACOM INTERNATIONAL CULTURAL AND CREATIVE FLAGSHIP PROJECT BY A SUBSIDIARY OF THE COMPANY This announcement is made by China Energy Engineering Corporation Limited (the “Company”) on a voluntary basis. The board of directors of the Company (the “Board”) is pleased to announce that, recently, China Gezhouba Group Stock Company Limited* (中國葛洲壩集團股份有限公司) (“CGGC”), a subsidiary of the Company has entered into an investment agreement for the Meishan Viacom international cultural and creative flagship project (the “Investment Agreement”) with Jinhengde Group Co., Ltd.* (金恒德集團有限公司) and the People’s Government of Dongpo District, Meishan. Pursuant to the Investment Agreement, CGGC will jointly set up a project company with Jinhengde Group Co., Ltd., which will be responsible for the investment, construction and operation of the Meishan Viacom international cultural and creative flagship project (the “Project”). The total investment of the Project is approximately RMB36.8 billion, subject to the actual amount of investment of the Project. The Project is a development project on cultural tourism areas, and its construction is mainly comprised of Nickelodeon Animation Creative Studio, MTV Music Plaza, Nickelodeon Indoor Theme Park, film and television bases, community centres, industrial cluster centres, themed hotels with high star ratings, which covers functional sectors such as creative creation of comics and animations, educational trainings, art performances and exhibitions, music production, film and television show production, entertainment experience and residence and vacations. In the Sichuan province, livelihood security and social development are particularly sensitive to changes in the sloping farmland, due to the region’s large portion of hilly territory and its over-dense population. In this study, we focused on spatiotemporal change of the sloping farmland and its driving forces in the Sichuan province. Sloping farmland areas were extracted from geographic data from digital elevation model (DEM) and land use maps, and the driving forces of the spatiotemporal change were analyzed using a principal component analysis (PCA). The results indicated that, from 2000 to 2015, sloping farmland decreased by 3263 km2 in the Sichuan province. The area of gently sloping farmland (<10◦) decreased dramatically by 1467 km2, especially in the capital city, Chengdu, and its surrounding areas.

The hilly area of central Sichuan is one of the ecologically fragile regions in the upper reaches of the Yangtze River, and it is also the main part of ecological engineering construction. The ecological environment in the study area is related to the ecological security in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River. Recent years have witnessed a great change in vegetation cover in this area as a result of climate change. Therefore, it is necessary to identify the changing patterns of vegetation cover and the impacts of climate change on the vegetation cover change in the study area. In this paper, the characteristics of vegetation cover change over the past 15 years were analyzed, based on the dataset of MODIS NDVI from 2001 to 2015 as well as the climate data from 55 meteorological stations, with methods such as maximum value composite (MVC), linear regression and correlation coefficient. The results showed that the annual maximum average NDVI in the hilly areas of central Sichuan has increased at a rate of 5.84/10a (P<0.01), while the summer average NDVI has increased at a rate of 1.6/10a (P>0.1).

Hinnov3, Ganqing Jiang4, Qinglai Feng5, Haiyan Li1 & Tianshui Yang1 An important innovation in the geosciences is the astronomical time scale. The astronomical time scale is based on the Milankovitch-forced stratigraphy that has been calibrated to astronomical models of paleoclimate forcing; it is defined for much of Cenozoic–Mesozoic. For the Palaeozoic era, however, astronomical forcing has not been widely explored because of lack of high-precision geochronology or astronomical modelling. Here we report Milankovitch cycles from late Permian (Lopingian) strata at Meishan and Shangsi, South China, time calibrated by recent high-precision U–Pb dating. The evidence extends empirical knowledge of Earth’s astronomical parameters before 250 million years ago. Observed obliquity and precession terms support a 22-h length-of-day. The reconstructed astronomical time scale indicates a 7.793-million year duration for the Lopingian epoch, when strong 405-kyr cycles constrain astronomical modelling.
