McLAREN-HONDA BEGINS NEW ERA WITH MP4-30 #McLarenHonda #MakeHistory McLaren-Honda – the name evokes stirring memories of the past; of Ayrton Senna battling Alain Prost for supremacy; of classic red and white machines dominating for season upon season; of an iconic team writing one of the defining chapters in the motor racing history books. Reuniting such an illustrious partnership brings with it the heavy weight of expectation, but all at McLaren and Honda are working to write a fresh chapter in Formula 1, one that respectfully nods to the past, but boldly looks to the horizon. Today’s reveal of the new McLaren-Honda MP4-30 – McLaren’s first Honda-powered car for 23 years – speaks volumes about the progressive nature of both companies. It is a thoroughly refined evolution of last year’s McLaren, it is the only chassis on the grid to be fitted with Honda’s RA615H Hybrid power unit, and it features an evolved colour scheme that firmly contextualises McLaren’s brand in the 21st century. MP4-30 – new technical DNA in the mix In 2015 McLaren-Honda intends to maintain the momentum it achieved during the second half of 2014, when an intensive technical development programme for the MP4-29 allowed the team to establish a solid position within the chasing pack. Relatively stable technical regulations between seasons have permitted our engineers to evolve some of the newer philosophies explored on last year’s season-ending car while also adding some exciting new technical DNA into the mix. Moreover, our restructured and strengthened engineering departments have gained the conviction to embark on a number of changes of direction. -

Media Information EMBARGOED: 17:31.BST, 20 April 2010 MANAGEMENT RESTRUCTURE AT McLAREN GROUP AND McLAREN AUTOMOTIVE Media Information 20 April 2010 MTC, Woking, England Following the recent spin-off of McLaren Automotive from McLaren Group, the following management restructure will come into operation with immediate effect. Ron Dennis CBE will resume his role of Executive Chairman of McLaren Group and will continue in his role of Executive Chairman of McLaren Automotive. Martin Whitmarsh has been appointed to two new roles: Chief Executive Officer of McLaren Group and Deputy Chairman of McLaren Automotive. He will also continue in his role of Team Principal of Vodafone McLaren Mercedes. Also reporting to Ron Dennis will be Tim Murnane (Group Legal Director & Company Secretary, McLaren Group) and Andy Myers (Group Chief Financial Officer, McLaren Group). Each of the McLaren Group companies’ Managing Directors will continue in their roles, as follows: Jonathan Neale (McLaren Racing) Ekrem Sami (McLaren Marketing) Dr Peter van Manen (McLaren Electronic Systems) Dr Geoff McGrath (McLaren Applied Technologies) Lyndy Redding (Absolute Taste) Antony Sheriff will continue in his role of Managing Director of McLaren Automotive. Sir Richard Lapthorne has resigned his Non-Executive Chairmanship of McLaren Group and role as a consultant to McLaren Automotive. Ron Dennis said: “Following the spin-off of McLaren Automotive from McLaren Group, I’m delighted to announce this management restructure. “The two companies will have separate shareholdings, and will continue to be headquartered in Woking, Surrey [UK]. McLaren Group will be based at the existing McLaren Technology Centre [MTC], while McLaren Automotive will be based at the brand-new McLaren Production Centre [MPC] which is now being constructed alongside the MTC. -

WELCOME BACK TO BAKU Dear friends, On behalf of Baku City Circuit, please let me welcome you to the third successive Formula 1 race weekend in Azerbaijan. Last year’s race in Baku was widely recognised as the most exciting and dramatic race of the year – if not the decade – by members of the media, teams, drivers and the global F1 fanbase alike. It truly was a race that had it all culminating in the most unexpected podium line up in many years. The fact that this historic race occurred under our new event title as the FORMULA 1 AZERBAIJAN GRAND PRIX filled us with an even greater sense of pride and satisfaction for a job well done. This year we once again welcome the world to Baku at the slightly earlier date of late April to bear witness to the awe-inspiring sight of F1 cars negotiating one of the fastest and most testing circuits in Formula 1. Baku City Circuit’s winding, narrow sequences, 90-degree turns and high-speed straights - all set against the breath- taking backdrop of Baku’s UNESCO-protected old city, magnificent skylines and beautiful seaside promenade - have proven to be a major challenge to the current F1 grid, resulting in last year’s spectacular outcome and many on-track altercations. We are very confident of a similar explosion of drama, speed and bravery occurring once again for the 2018 edition. Furthermore, the off-track entertainment will be bigger and better than ever before with world-class music, visual and conceptual artists once again performing all along the specially constructed Fan Zone all weekend. -

Q & A SESSION WITH MARTIN WHITMARSH MARTIN WHITMARSH: Perhaps it's worth saying the geniuses come after me. DAVID CROFT: Well, I thought I'd give you the option to be a genius or not. Thanks for joining us. This is the first time we've heard from you this morning, so we ought to start with the car; what do you think? MARTIN WHITMARSH: Well, it's already been commented on, it looks beautiful. I should probably pull these chairs away, stop hiding it, but -- no, it looks beautiful at the moment, but cars really do look beautiful if they win races. And, you know, the beauty is more than skin deep. I think there's tremendous engineering underneath. A lot of thought has gone into this car and, really, refinement. I'm sure it will look different when it gets to Australia. That's the nature offer Formula 1 these days, we're constantly evolving the product, but I think it's nice, when you're going to have to stand around a car for quite a long period of your life during a year, if it looks good at the outset that helps us. DAVID CROFT: Lewis and Jenson said there's only one goal at the start of the season; is that your goal as well, to win a championship? MARTIN WHITMARSH: Well, yeah, I'm sure it's no surprise to everyone here that our goal is to win two world championships this year. That's what we exist to do. That's what we try to do every year. -
