  • Strictly Come Boxing for Dubois
STRICTLY COME BOXING FOR DUBOIS DANIEL DUBOIS IS well aware that he has been viewed as the silent partner when it came to calling out for a fight against Nathan Gorman. Gorman has been vocal in expressing a desire for the fight pretty much since his former Team GB teammate and rival burst onto the professional scene, notched up 10 KOs from his 11 fights and won five title belts along the way. Dubois, with his typical reserve, has kept his counsel, got on with his job and bashed up everyone who has been put in front of him. That is not to say he did not want the fight and he has proved as much by signing up for a shot at the British heavyweight title against Gorman at the o2 Arena on July 13. Dubois is ready to dance and firmly believes it will be him calling the tune when the two top young heavies meet under the lights in London. “We’re fighters and we need each other, we need dance partners,” reflected the 21-year-old. “This is the next one so let’s get it on.” It was thought this spicy showdown wouldn’t come about until much later in the year, especially when Dubois was put forward to fight Joe Joyce for the Lonsdale belt. Joyce is now attending to alternative business and Dubois certainly has no issue with it being brought forward. “Yes, very happy,” he stated. “I think it is just right and the right fight to make. It is perfect for my style and I want to get it on, I really want to get this fight on and I am looking forward to it.

  • George Fox Ready for the Top After Tyson Fury Camps
GEORGE FOX READY FOR THE TOP AFTER TYSON FURY CAMPS GEORGE FOX believes an “life-changing” education from Tyson Fury will put him top of the class in Britain next year. The WBC World Heavyweight champion was impressed by Queensberry’s latest big hope when they spent two camps together. Fox (3-0), who is trained by his Father, Don Charles has his first fight for Frank Warren at SSE Arena, Wembley on Saturday July 24, live on BT Sport. The Mill Hill Heavyweight hope has mixed with plenty of world class fighters besides Fury. He has also sparred Dereck Chisora, Daniel Dubois, Anthony Joshua, Joe Joyce and Dillian Whyte. Because of the pandemic, 6ft 7in Fox hasn’t boxed since November 2019, but says: “It’s actually been the most useful time I have had to knuckle down. I have never trained so hard this consistently. “I have had top sparring and did two camps with Tyson Fury – one in Las Vegas and one in Morecambe. “It was life-changing with Tyson. I became very close with him, very friendly with him. “Because of my style, I am not a traditional banger. I am more of a technical Heavyweight trying to pick people apart. “Having said that the last year or so we have done strength work and put on power, no doubt. “Tyson has been instrumental in teaching me certain fundamentals that suit me because I am 6ft 7in and a bit — tall and rangy. “He has just helped me push on with my craft and given me some inside secrets.

  • Gorman Added to Fury V Klitschko Undercard
GORMAN ADDED TO FURY V KLITSCHKO UNDERCARD NANTWICH heavyweight Nathan Gorman has been given the opportunity to appear on the undercard of Tyson Fury’s mammoth heavyweight title rematch with Wladimir Klitschko. Fights are coming thick and fast for the Ricky Hatton-trained 19-year-old as he has racked up four victories with three knockouts since turning professional in December. This past weekend Gorman floored Poland’s Kamil Sokolowski three times en route to a fifth round stoppage in Walsall and just two weeks earlier he wiped out Hrvoje Kisicek in just one session at London’s Copper Box Arena. The opportunity to feature on the Fury v Klitchsko 2 card is huge for a boxer at this early stage in his career and Ricky Hatton believes fight fans will be pleased with what they see in Manchester on July 9. “For a young prospect, things don’t get any bigger than this,” Hatton said. “The chance for a teenage heavyweight to box on the same bill as a world heavyweight title fight is massive. “Nathan only started boxing around three years ago and he had to pinch himself when we told him where his next fight would be. “I expect Nathan to shine on the night regardless of who he’s in with. In his last couple of fights he’s shown the power and shot picking we’ve been working on and I believe fans at the Manchester Arena will be very impressed with what they see from him.” Like Tyson Fury, Gorman comes from proud travelling stock.
