Super-Bantamweight Ace Kid Galahad Joins Huge Cardiff Show SUPER-BANTAMWEIGHT ACE KID GALAHAD JOINS HUGE CARDIFF SHOW Undefeated Super-Bantamweight ace Kid Galahad has been added to Frank Warren’s huge Motorpoint Arena Cardiff bill this Saturday. Galahad continues his comeback in an eight round International contest against Barcelona’s Reynaldo Mora, live and exclusive on BoxNation. The 26-year-old, a former British, Commonwealth, European, WBC International and IBF Youth Champion has racked up two wins this year and featured last at the 02 Arena when he blasted out Emiliano Salvini in four round. Now the Sheffield hot-shot is itching to get back in the ring and put on a show for the Welsh public. A mouth-watering match-up with Cuban pound-for-pound star Guillermo Rigondeaux has been touted for next year but Galahad remains fully focused on his task at hand. “I’m delighted to be joining such a big show,” said Galahad. “I’m itching to get back in the ring and do what I do best. This will be my first time boxing in Wales as a pro and I’m determined to put in a top performance and win over some new fans. “There’s some big fights for me in 2017 but first I need to overcome Reynaldo on Saturday. I want to end 2016 on a high and look forward to a busy 2017.” Galahad joins a huge night of boxing at the Motorpoint Arena. Manchester’s WBO Lightweight Champion Terry Flanagan defends his World title for the fourth time against Puerto Rico’s Orlando Cruz; local hero Liam Williams takes on Gabor Gorbics for the WBO European Super-Welterweight title; Liverpool’s Tom Stalker makes the first defence of his European Lightweight strap against long-term rival Craig Evans and Birmingham’s Tommy Langford faces-off with Sheffield’s Sam Sheedy for the Vacant British Middleweight title. Wales is well represented on a stacked undercard; Gary Lockett-trained Middleweight Alex Hughes looks to go 9-0, Super-Flyweight Jay Harris looks to build on his explosive KO win at the Cardiff Ice Arena last time out and 5-0 Barry Lightweight Jason Sillett looks to impress on home soil. Ricky Hatton Heavyweight prodigy Nathan Gorman aims for another explosive KO and Market Harborough Super-Welterweight Rueben Arrowsmith looks to rack-up another win. Remaining tickets for November 26 priced £40, £70, £100, £150 and £200 are available from www.motorpointarena.com (029 2022 4488), www.eventim.com (0844 249 1000) and www.ticketmaster.co.uk (0844 8440 444). • Lou Dibella – Khurtsidze Can Crush
LOU DIBELLA – KHURTSIDZE CAN CRUSH SAUNDERS’ DREAMS Billy Joe Saunders has been warned that his dreams of facing the winner of Canelo Alvarez v Gennady Golovkin will be ruined by the desire of Avtandil Khurtsidze. Undefeated Saunders, 27, makes the second defence his WBO Middleweight title against the colourful Georgian at London’s Copper Box Arena on July 8, live on BT Sport and BoxNation. Khurtsidze sealed his status as mandatory contender for the Hatfield traveller’s World crown with a fifth round win over Tommy Langford in Leicester on April 30. It was his sixth consecutive KO win since moving to Brooklyn and signing with Lou DiBella, one of the World’s leading promoters. Saunders narrowly beat another DiBella boxer Artur Akavov in December and the New York promoter believes the Briton faces an even tougher night against Khurtsidze who has won 33 of his 37 fights. DiBella said: “Billy Joe is a very skilled fighter, but you never know which Billy Joe is going to show up. “The fight with Akavov was a close, competitive fight. No one predicted that and Billy Joe hasn’t looked the best of himself in a long time. “The one thing about Khurtsidze is that he’s hungrier than Billy Joe, he’s relentless with his attacks and capable of doing damage at any stage of the fight. “Khurtsidze could be down by four or five rounds and still mount offensive attacks that could win him the fight. “He is dangerous from the first bell until the end of the 12th round.” With the IBF, WBA and WBC belts on the line when Canelo and GGG meet in September, the winner of Saunders v Khurtsidze will be in line for a huge payday and the chance to become undisputed World Middleweight Champion against the victor.

  • Strictly Come Boxing for Dubois
STRICTLY COME BOXING FOR DUBOIS DANIEL DUBOIS IS well aware that he has been viewed as the silent partner when it came to calling out for a fight against Nathan Gorman. Gorman has been vocal in expressing a desire for the fight pretty much since his former Team GB teammate and rival burst onto the professional scene, notched up 10 KOs from his 11 fights and won five title belts along the way. Dubois, with his typical reserve, has kept his counsel, got on with his job and bashed up everyone who has been put in front of him. That is not to say he did not want the fight and he has proved as much by signing up for a shot at the British heavyweight title against Gorman at the o2 Arena on July 13. Dubois is ready to dance and firmly believes it will be him calling the tune when the two top young heavies meet under the lights in London. “We’re fighters and we need each other, we need dance partners,” reflected the 21-year-old. “This is the next one so let’s get it on.” It was thought this spicy showdown wouldn’t come about until much later in the year, especially when Dubois was put forward to fight Joe Joyce for the Lonsdale belt. Joyce is now attending to alternative business and Dubois certainly has no issue with it being brought forward. “Yes, very happy,” he stated. “I think it is just right and the right fight to make. It is perfect for my style and I want to get it on, I really want to get this fight on and I am looking forward to it.
