The proposal specifically refers to a new 420 place school with 30 Full Time Equivalent (FTE) Nursery, Pre-school and community facilities on the existing school site. Catchment areas will remain unchanged but the larger school will cater for additional pupils expected from the new housing developments in the area. A new vehicular driveway/access off Maendy Way also forms part of this proposal. The regulations require that consultees must be given at least 42 days to respond to the document, with at least 20 of these being school days. Taking this into account, the consultation period will begin with the issue of this letter (24th February 2020), and will close on Monday 6th April 2020. Have a look at their website for further information. www.culturenetcymru.com One very exciting, and daunting, development that is currently the main focus of my life is the fact that we have been given the opportunity to mount a mid- Project Exhibition at The National Waterfront Museum in Swansea. Whereas this is a very prestigious organisation it is also a bit scary! Edwina Hart AM will open the Exhibition on 11th August at 10am so please do try and come along. I will be inviting some of the people who have kindly brought items along to Roadshows and I know that my heroine, Marjorie Edmunds, now aged 86 and former aircraft engineer, as featured in the last newsletter, will be attending so – come and meet her. Plans are well under way for the Haverfordwest Roadshow – September 13th 2008 and Debra Griffiths of ‘The Coal House’ fame is coming along to open it. Overview Paul Murphy MP was appointed as Oxbridge Ambassador to establish the reasons behind the decline in Welsh applications and admissions to the universities of Oxford and Cambridge. The final report builds upon the findings of the interim report that was published in December 2013, and takes into account all of the feedback received to date. The report summarises the findings of the project based on an analysis of relevant data and a broad consultation with students, teachers and other key stakeholders. The report identifies some of the main issues around raising standards, boosting self-esteem and sharing best practice in building up our most able and talented young people, presents recommendations to address them and identifies areas of effective practice.
