Trinity Catholic High School in Ocala added to its front parking lot a decorative cross that conveys the many different names of Jesus Christ used in the English language. Names such as “Prince of Peace” and “King of Kings” adorn the cross, which stands 7.5 feet tall and is made of steel, brass, bronze and aluminum. David McKenzie, the school’s president, requested the cross after seeing a small version at St. Mark the Evangelist Parish in Summerfield. He said the school “needed something that would define us as a Catholic, Christian school. I wanted something that had a firm message … for teenagers.” Since it was put up Feb. 14, the cross’s presence is already making an impact, McKenzie said. He said he has seen students praying and meditating next to it, and contemplating the many names to which Jesus was referred in Scripture.“We see crosses and everywhere,” McKenzie said. “I didn’t want this to 30515-0307 be something where they would just pass by; I wanted this to be something they would engage with and reflect on.” (STEPHEN DOWELL | FC) 7 Your Orlando community Florida Catholic March 7-20, 2014
