About The TSA
The Transpiration Security Administration was established in 2001 following the tragedy of September 11. The terrorist act resulted in the takeover of several aircrafts, transforming them into explosive devices that demolished multiple buildings (including World Trade Center Towers I and II in New York City) in the U.S.
The government initiative developed as TSA was meant to tighten up security measures and to prevent travelers deemed dangerous from entering airports and boarding airplanes. TSA has accomplished the following since its launch in November 2011:
Implementation of a custom explosives detection system, which scans the luggage and possessions of all travelers departing from airports.
Improvement of cockpit doors on aircrafts to prevent access to potential intruders and violators in possession of firearms and
Requirement of ID verification checkpoints stationed at TSA security lines. TravelPrecheck.org | 9
Facilitation of random screenings, including body searches performed by TSA officers.
Full-body scanning machines to detect weapons and explosives of a non-metallic nature.
Heightened screenings for international passengers who intend to carry on luggage.
Close review of any gels, liquids and aerosols meant to board an aircraft with passengers.
Supervision of canine air cargo inspections.
Examination of electronic devices to assess presence of alarms. TravelPrecheck.org | 10
