You are at home. It is a familiar, safe place. The people whom you love best are there. You are cooking a meal. All is well.

Suddenly, everything changes. There are screams and shouts. There is violence. Your world is shattered. You are uprooted, tossed around by the hurricane of war.

And so you fl ee. You cannot carry much. Your children’s sobbing pierces your heart. You are terrifi ed, exhausted and broken.

Finally, safety. It is not home, but it is a refuge. There is shelter. There is a little food. You battle daily against hunger and disease. Your oldest child has retreated into a shell of despair. Your youngest cries continually. You sit. You try to comfort. You long for help. Water in the refugee camps is often not safe to drink Our Lent Project enabling self-sufficiency and improving health

It all started with the Chalke Valley Lent Project 2010. Caroline Lamb had visited Kajo Keji in 2009 and was moved by the lack of education, health provision and poor infrastructure. Agricultural training is helping feed refugee families On Caroline’s return she started fundraising in earnest to help the people she had met. The mission focus of CRESS is sowing seeds for life, providing the South Sudanese with the skills, training and resources to become self-suffi cient, sustainable and ethical communities.

CRESS originally worked in South Sudan but due to the civil war this became too dangerous. In 2017 CRESS followed the South Sudanese refugees into Northern Uganda where it now works in partnership with the Dioceses of Liwolo & Kajo Keji. Part of the work of CRESS is to equip the local Bishop, + Joseph Aba, to train clergy and share the Gospel widely in rural areas. A Guest for the Night

During Lent we have a special family travelling around the valley. Would you put them up for the night? Could you feed them? Perhaps off er them something to help with clothing and education?

Meet the Dhuoor family, James, Rebeca, Tabitha & John. Like Posada at Christmas they are a travelling family and will need a host family for every night during Lent. They will come in their own special box, with a tent, and will have a place for donations towards the Lent appeal. They’ll even have a log book so we can map where they have travelled to and stayed as they moved up and down the valley.

If you are willing to open your house to our refugees email Emily [email protected] who will arrange a list. with your help, we can improve life for refugees

Why Life Matters! for we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works Ephesians 2:10 There are 1.6 million South Sudanese Refugees living in Northern Uganda - largely ignored by the world and with very limited support from NGOs. Thank you in advance for your generosity. It is truly life changing.

With funds from this Lent Project CRESS Refugees in Uganda hopes to fund: Water Filters Learning Mosquito Nets
