After declaring your faith in a dead cert winner, they go and produce an album that sends everyone awkwardly distancing themselves (see Black Kids, Temper Trap, etc.). So consider this column future-proofed with a disclaimer that it really isn’t our fault if said bands disappear off the face of the earth post-recommendation. That said, if we call a winner, it was definitely us first. Being the end of the year, it seems like an appropriate time to place our bets for 2010, so in no particular order here goes: Delphic are a Manchester four piece that pay homage to their Hacienda dance roots but revitalise them with a modern, electronic sheen. It’s only a matter of time before some music journalist labels them un- Manchester and they go huge. Debut album, Acolyte is released in January via Polydor. They’ve also been supporting techno godfathers Orbital, co-headlining the perma-chic French indie label Kitsune’s UK tour and appearing on everyone’s favourite goblin Jools Holland’s TV show. Next up are Copy Haho, definitely the most exciting thing to come from Stonehaven, a small town near Aberdeen, Scotland. They sound a bit like Pavement and make catchy indie pop – so really something you’ve never heard before. But what makes them so endearing is the hapless uncertainty in songs like ‘Wrong Direction’ and ‘You Are My Coal Mine’, which don’t seem to deter them at all from bursting out with happy melodic choruses. They’re also playing Leeds’ mighty Brudenell Social Club tonight. Hurry up and grab a ticket. If you’re looking for something more laid back, it doesn’t get more chilled than Washed Out. Ernest Greene’s bedroom synth-pop sounds like a Beach Boys cassette smeared with Vaseline and then played through cheap speakers. Think of blurry, sun-bleached surfer photos, and you’re not far from what Washed Out captures. Greene’s EP, appropriately called High Times, is on the shelves now. The Drums might well be another indie band from New York, if it wasn’t for their weirdly dislocated Manchurian miserabilia, of the likes of the Smiths, that they combine with fun, energetic LA pop. What follows should have been a disaster, but instead they’ve created straightforward but infectious melodies, despite being about frustration, longing and rejection. Their EP is called Summertime, rather inappropriate looking at the bleak grey Yorkshire landscape, but let it take you to a happy place far away, preferably somewhere with palm trees. They’re coming to the O2 Academy in Leeds next February. Finally, Gold Panda is not the idol of a lost Chinese religion, but it is a 28-year-old London fellow named http://nouse.co.uk/2009/12/08/future-sounds-2010-predictions Archived 10 Dec 2018 23:19:36 Nouse Web Archives Future Sounds – 2010 Predictions Page 2 of 3 Derwin. What’s startling is the sheer range of his music. His latest EP Before has everything from sombre floating piano, glitchy techno loops and even a hip-hop style ‘aiiiright’ sample. He’s playing Fabric in London with Four Tet in January, so get on down. You got that? Now go make us proud, class of 2010. Most Read Discussed 1. Review: Little Mix – LM5 2. • Some Rap Songs Full Album Download
some rap songs full album download What Is Rap Music? Rap music, also known as Hip-Hop music is a rhythmic music genre derived from the Hip-Hop culture (rapping, beatboxing, DJing, break dancing and graffiti writing). Rapping is performed by Emcees/MC’s/Rappers who use their vocals in a melodic rhyme form which is often described as being very similar to poetry. Rappers can go acapella (rapping without a beat/instrumental) or perform on a track in a freestyle or written form. As a whole, rap music has grown to be immensely popular, especially to those who live in poor areas or/and people who are going through personal struggles. This is because many rap artists come from poor areas themselves and have also gone through the same strugglers experienced by the listener, so naturally they can relate to their music. Styles Of Rap Music. Rap music is one of the most popular music genres in the world and since its birth in the 1970’s in Bronx, New York, it has broken off into various subgenres and has even fused with other music genres. Its heavily influenced by Funk, Jazz, Rhythm & Blues, Soul and Disco music. Entire books can be written (and has been written) about rapping and the history of hip-hop. I won’t get into that as they can be better explained by other authors. My main focus in this article is on the different styles of modern rap music. Generally, rap beats are between 75-110 BPM (beats per minute), although there is no rule and it can range widely depending on one’s personal preference.

  • A Critical Analysis of the Black President in Film and Television
“WELL, IT IS BECAUSE HE’S BLACK”: A CRITICAL ANALYSIS OF THE BLACK PRESIDENT IN FILM AND TELEVISION Phillip Lamarr Cunningham A Dissertation Submitted to the Graduate College of Bowling Green State University in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of DOCTOR OF PHILOSOPHY August 2011 Committee: Dr. Angela M. Nelson, Advisor Dr. Ashutosh Sohoni Graduate Faculty Representative Dr. Michael Butterworth Dr. Susana Peña Dr. Maisha Wester © 2011 Phillip Lamarr Cunningham All Rights Reserved iii ABSTRACT Angela Nelson, Ph.D., Advisor With the election of the United States’ first black president Barack Obama, scholars have begun to examine the myriad of ways Obama has been represented in popular culture. However, before Obama’s election, a black American president had already appeared in popular culture, especially in comedic and sci-fi/disaster films and television series. Thus far, scholars have tread lightly on fictional black presidents in popular culture; however, those who have tend to suggest that these presidents—and the apparent unimportance of their race in these films—are evidence of the post-racial nature of these texts. However, this dissertation argues the contrary. This study’s contention is that, though the black president appears in films and televisions series in which his presidency is presented as evidence of a post-racial America, he actually fails to transcend race. Instead, these black cinematic presidents reaffirm race’s primacy in American culture through consistent portrayals and continued involvement in comedies and disasters. In order to support these assertions, this study first constructs a critical history of the fears of a black presidency, tracing those fears from this nation’s formative years to the present.
