MTR Wishes Passengers an Auspicious Year of the Ox with Limited Edition Ticket Set

Auspicious images of oxen blending traditional and contemporary artistic styles are featured in the limited edition MTR “Year of the Ox” Ticket Set, which will be on sale starting from 23 January 2021. Passengers will be able to commence the new lunar year by enjoying unlimited domestic journeys around town on the MTR network1 on the first day (12 February 2021) with the tickets.

“This will be the last set in the third series of MTR Chinese zodiac tickets which have been very popular amongst people since the launch in 2010. Over the past 11 years, all the ticket sets have blended ancient and modern artistic masterpieces by both Chinese and Western artists,” said Ms Jeny Yeung, Commercial Director of MTR Corporation.

“The past year has been a tumultuous ride for many and we stand ready to welcome the new year bringing new hope and luck to Hong Kong. Through this ticket set portraying the strong and steady oxen, we wish our passengers a healthy and fruitful Year of the Ox,” added Ms Yeung.

Priced at HK$100, each ticket set comprises two tickets illustrating a contemporary design by award-winning Spanish illustrator Mar Hernández and a traditional Chinese painting by renowned Chinese artist Li Keran, an exquisite ticket holder and eight “Fortune Blossom” red packets.

A “Bamboo Blessing” chopsticks and holders set2 will also be available for sale at HK$90 from the same day (23 January 2021). This chopsticks set conveying sincere seasonal good wishes to all families is a perfect pick for family reunion dinners on Lunar New Year’s Eve.

The ticket and chopsticks sets will go on public sale from 23 January 2021 on the MTR Mobile app, MTR website (www..com.hk) and at all MTR and Light Rail Customer Service Centres3 (unpaid area) while stocks last. Each customer can buy up to two sets for each item per purchase. The tickets will be returned to customers as souvenirs after use.

To maintain social distancing during the pandemic, customers are encouraged to make the purchase via the MTR Mobile app to enjoy exclusive privileges and convenience between tomorrow (8 January 2021) and 17 January 2021:

Remarks:

1. Each ticket is valid for unlimited domestic journeys on the MTR, Light Rail, MTR Bus and MTR Feeder Bus on the first day of the Year of the Ox on 12 February 2021 (except Airport Express, High Speed Rail, First Class, journeys to or from or Lok Ma Chau and Racecourse stations). Passengers are required to present their tickets for verification when taking the Light Rail. If the ticket is used to travel to Lo Wu or Lok Ma Chau in breach of the terms and conditions, the holder is liable to pay the full single journey fare between the station of entry to Lo Wu Station or .

Malfunctioning tickets should be exchanged on 12 February 2021 at any MTR Customer Service Centres (except Airport Express, Hong Kong West Kowloon, Light Rail, Lo Wu, Lok Ma Chau and Racecourse stations). Tickets sold are non-refundable and non-transferrable.

2. Customers purchasing the chopsticks set will also receive a “New Year Blessing” lucky card. By scanning the QR code printed on the cards, customers may get a chance to earn up to 8,888 MTR Points in the MTR Mobile app (applicable to MTR Mobile registered users only).
