We are very proud of our schools, our students, our faculty, and all of our successes in the last year. This publication celebrates these achievements and extends a special thanks to all those who believe in Butte Central Catholic Schools. As we look back on the past year, we are filled with a special sense of pride. Our students have excelled in the classroom, in activities, and in community service endeavors. Butte Central is truly a community of faith where students are challenged each day to serve one another through prayer, support, and action. Our powerful drive toward excellence is at the heart of our academic, co-curricular, and J.P. Williams religious programs. Christian values, prayer, and high expectations speak to our school High School Principal motto of Pride, Tradition, and Commitment. Through this Annual Report, we would like to extend our thanks and appreciation to our alumni, parents, friends, and supporters. School officials have diligently worked to EXPENSES accomplish both goals. Tuition Assistance $ 349,747 13% A review of the 2018-2019 budget reveals tuition and Donations/Grants $ 10,000 0% fees amounted to $1,421,600 or 51% of total revenues. Parish subsidies covered $172,624 or 6%. The remaining $441,310 or 16% of revenues included Instruction $ 75,469 3% additional fees, grants, and miscellaneous contributions. Operations & Maintenance $ 159,148 6% On the expense side, personnel costs amounted to Other Expenses $ 48,709 2% $1,781,845 or 64% of the budget. The remaining Activities Expense $ 250,621 9% expenses included $97,767 or 3% for administrative expenses, $75,469 or 3% for instruction, $159,148 or 6% Total Expenses $ 2,773,306 for building operations and maintenance, $250,621 or 9% for activities, and $48,709 or 2% for other expenses. Net Ordinary Income $ -0- Looking to the future, the support of the benefactors will be more important than ever before. Locating new sources of revenue are essential to strengthening the financial future of Butte Central Catholic Schools. BUTTE CENTRAL Education Foundation The Butte Central Education Foundation serves as the 2018-2019 IMPACT cornerstone of fundraising in the Butte Central Catholic School System. Funds raised by the Foundation are used to meet the School Support $792,297.00 costs of education that are not covered by tuition and parish (Faculty salaries, scholarships, academic subsidies. Programs, activities, and building operations) During the 2018-2019 school year, the Foundation provided Naviance Student Guidance Program $ 13,564.00 $1,019,207 to Butte Central Catholic Schools. The funds included Cote Resource Program $ 12,500.00 direct support of pre-school through high school operations Bishop Thomas Scholars Academy $ 10,000.00 and debt service for the Maroon Activities Center. A total of Additional Faculty & Staff $ 35,768.00 $792,297 was provided to the operational budgets of Butte IT $ 10,150.00 Central Schools for faculty and staff salaries and benefits, student HS/Jr. High Door Security Project $ 28,538.00 scholarships, academic programs, activities, and facilities. An Daycare Security $ 2,000.00 additional $50,000.00 was raised to meet the annual bank Miscellaneous $ 6,190.00 payment for the Maroon Activities Center. The Foundation also Year End Faculty Bonuses $ 3,200.00 provided $3,200.00 in year-end faculty bonuses, $50,000.00 in Academic/Music Grants $ 50,000.00 academic and music grants, and $5,000.00 to the Montana Tech MT Tech Football Turf Fund $ 5,000.00 Turf Replacement Fund. The Turf Replacement Fund is part of the Maroon Activities Center $ 50,000.00 Bank Payment agreement for the Maroon football team to play at Bob Green Field. Total 2018-19 Foundation Impact $1,019,207.00 Annually, the Butte Central Education Foundation conducts a variety of fundraising projects and events. The Annual Fund Drive plays a major role in assisting the Butte Central Catholic School System. Along with funds raised through various other activities, the Foundation strives to meet the financial challenges facing our outstanding Catholic schools. FOUNDATION Board of Directors The Butte Central Education Foundation was EX-OFFICIO MEMBERS: established in the early 1980s to advance the goals of the Butte Central Catholic School System. Don Peoples, Jr., Executive Director Butte Central Education Foundation The primary purposes of the Foundation are Melissa Hill, Associate Director Butte Central Education Foundation to raise revenue for the operating budgets of JP Williams, Principal Butte Central Catholic High School Butte Central Schools and to strengthen the Susie Hogart, Principal Butte Central Catholic Elementary future through an endowment fund. The general Greg Ritter, BCCS Finance Director supervision and management of the affairs of the Chad Petersen, BCHS Activities Director Foundation are the responsibility of the Board Dr. Timothy Uhl, Superintendent of Catholic Schools of Directors. Members of the Board of Directors attend meetings, serve on committees, and assist in the fundraising efforts of the Foundation. The Board acts under the jurisdiction of the Diocese of Helena Amanda Badovinac Todd Guldseth School Office and must adhere to school and Diocesan Tom Boyle Kelli Harrington policies. Loralee Davenport John Keeley Tom Downey June Lester The Board is challenged with the responsibility of developing, formulating, and enacting policies that guide the Butte SUB-COMMITTEES: Central Catholic School System. The Board’s policies cover Finance: personnel, secular curriculum, planning, finance, marketing Todd Guldseth Fr. Tom Haffey and public relations. Kelli Harrington Pam Sholey John Keeley The Board membership includes regular voting members, ex-officio non-voting members, and four standing sub- Catholic Culture: committees. The sub-committees include the Finance Tom Downey Susie Hogart Committee, Education Committee, Catholic Culture Fr. Tom Haffey Dave Curry Committee, and Marketing Committee. The sub-committees Fr. Kirby Longo Pat Danks are designed to provide expertise, recommendations, and Meg Bradshaw advice to the regular voting members.
