2012-2013 ANNUAL REPORT Iowa State University Business Career Services Director’s Summary March 2014 Dear Supporter, College of Business students continued to benefit from a very strong recruiting climate for business talent in 2012-2013. The past year was consistent with some of our best years on record. Ninety-six percent (+1%) of all Business undergraduates were occupied; 92% (+1%) were occupied in professional employment or additional educational. In this report, you will find career development activities of 2012-2013. Our Fall and Spring Career Fairs attracted 168 (+21.7%) and 150 (+27.1%) employers respectively, with a cumulative total of 4,657 (-4.5%) student attendees. Our staff advised 2,275 (+21.9%) students/alums and made 97 (-15.7%) professional career-related presentations. We reported 774 (+11.7%) students on internship sites. Fifty-three percent of students remained in the state of Iowa for their professional pursuits, while 47% went outside of the state. There are several sections in this report that may be of interest. They include; 1) top employers hiring our students, 2) a state map of the relocation activities of our graduates, and 3) employment rates by major. We are very pleased with the continued development of the use of CyHire, our online career management system. We are now teaching 10 sections of BUSAD 203X (Careers in Business and Employment Preparation) internally each semester. The course is 1 credit graded and required for all College of Business students which we believe will positively impact the overall professional development of our students. Thank you for your continued support and we look forward to reporting the successes of College of Business students and graduates in the future. Please feel free to contact me personally if you have questions or concerns about this information.
