Consorci Universitat Internacional Menéndez Pelayo de Barcelona. The CUIMPB – Centre Ernest Lluch is tasked with managing the permanent campus of the Menéndez Pelayo International University (UIMP) in Barcelona. The UIMP’s celebrated university campus coordinates and develops UIMP activities around culture, research, and specialized training, bringing together students and faculty from various university degrees and courses of specialization. Our mission is to promote both culture and science and to encourage the exchange of scientific and cultural information pertinent on both regional and international levels

Fundación Pau Costa Pau Costa Foundation is advocating a profound change in the perception of landscape fire by the society, divulgating the knowledge on fire ecology, facilitating fire management at landscape level and bridging the gap between research, practitioners and society. It also aims to serves as information coordination platform and contact point to exchange and transfer knowledge in the field of fire ecology research and operational fire management.

Instituto de Seguridad Pública de Cataluña. The Institute of Public Security of Catalonia is the center of creation and knowledge transfer security system in Catalonia and an essential piece in building a model characterized by cross-cutting policies and based on coordination and responsibility of all operators. It was created by law in 2007 with the aim of integrating into a single comprehensive education center, supporting the selection and professional development of various groups of the Catalan safety, always in collaboration with organizations which depend

Welcome to the Euro-Mediterranean Wildland Fire Conference to be held on 18, 19 and 20 November in Barcelona.

As in any other field, the world of forest fires is critical information flow between countries fighting services of similar climate to establish strategies to tackle forest fires with greater efficiency and safety. At the First Conference of Euro-Mediterranean Wildland Fire experts from various fields will share their knowledge to influence the quality of extinguishing forest fires.

The sessions are intended to establish a meeting point between the operational community ( Fire suppression ) , private sector companies and organizations that show their advances in new technologies , forestry management experts , research centers, fire ecology , psychologists and journalists. All this to meet common needs, promoting a culture of lifelong learning in work safety and efficacy of community wildfire through the study of the experiences of the present and the past, to improve the future. Fostering collaboration and the ability to share knowledge on forest fires at all levels, as well as facilitating access to this knowledge.

As detailed in the following pages, speakers representing European and International organizations at the highest level : Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO ) , Fire Department of , European Forest Institute ( EFI ) , Joint Research Center, European Forest Fire Information System ( EFFIS ) , German Aerospace Center, Ministère de l'Agriculture et du Développement Rural de l' Algérie , Fire Department of the Generalitat of Catalonia , Fire Valéncia, Balearic Islands Government , Center for High Yield of Catalonia , Tecnosylva and European Commission.

OPENING plenary

Chief Ronald Spadafora. He is a veteran of the Fire Department of New York ( FDNY ) 35. He currently holds the rank of Deputy Chief ( 3 stars). In September 2005 , after Hurricane Katrina , he took part as FDNY Deputy Incident Commander in the Incident Management Team to New Orleans to attend the FDNO . In 11 - S , he was sent to Ground Zero and supervised the rescue effort in the area of the north tower collapse ( WTC 1 ) and firefighting operations in WTC 7 . In October 2001 , he was appointed head of security for the entire WTC recovery operation.

Ron Spadafora is teaching assistant professor in emergency management and fire science , both at the Metropolitan College of New York ( MCNY ) at grade level and the John Jay College, City University of New York (CUNY ) for college students. He is also a senior instructor of Fire Technology Incorporated , lecturing on the FDNY . He has written numerous articles for the official publication of the FDNY , also a member of the editorial advisory board of the journal .

He has a Masters in Criminal Justice from Long Island University , a Bachelor of Fire Science at John Jay College and a Bachelor of Arts in Health Education at College , CUNY .

With more than 34,000 candidates in the examination was hired as a firefighter in the first class at position 121 ( Cream of the Crop ) of the top of the list Eligible Firefighter ( 7847 ) 2 September 1978

Dr. Joaquín Ramírez Cisneros. Ph.D. in Forestry. General Manager at Tecnosyla. European Master Wildland Fire Coordinator (www.masterfuegoforestal.es). Recently was keynote speaker at the Global Risk Forum 2012 in Davos in geospatial technologies applied to forest fires. His research focuses on the modelling of forest fires and development of geo-tools.

Dr. Jesús San Miguel. He is responsible for the scientific coordination of surveillance activities at European forests (in the context of EU Regulations) and to the development and operation of European Forest Monitoring. These include the European System of Forest Fire Information System (EFFIS) and the European Forest Data Centre (EFDAC). PhD in Remote Sensing and GIS at the University of California-Berkeley (1989, 1993), he is a Forestry Engineer from the Polytechnic University of Madrid (1987).

Ms. Cristina Párraga Niebla. Graduated in Telecommunication Engineering at the Technical University of Catalonia. Since July 2001, working in the DLR-KN and participated as responsible for various projects of the EC and ESA. His research interests revolve around networking and integration of satellite and terrestrial networks, resource management for satellite communications systems engineering and system of mobile communications and broadband satellite, hybrid systems, aeronautical communications and communications for public protection and disaster rescue.

Mr. Pep Marí Cortés. BA in Psychology and MA in Sport Psychology at the Autonomous University of Barcelona. Head of the Department of Psychology of High Sport Performance Center (CAR)for the last 23 years. Specialist psychology of human skills. Author of the books Learn from the champions and Happiness is not the goal. Active collaborator at the Catalonian National Radio Chanel.

Ms. Núria Iglesias i Guerrero. Degree in Advertising and Public Relations (University of Barcelona) and post-graduate degree in Communication Strategy and Policy (Institute of Political and Social Sciences - UAB). Head of the Information and Communication Department of Prevention, Fire Fighting and Rescue, where he coordinates the information to the media, information campaigns for the population and the communicative aspects of the Fire Department of the Generalitat de Catalunya. With a high experience in crisis communication is passionate about social media and corporate communications.

Mr. Raúl Quílez. Engineer Degree in Forestry and Forest Fires and Natural Resources. From 1992-1994 he worked at the NCC as UMMT technician (Mobile Units Meteorology and Transmissions) forest fire support, and the organization and management of air bases. From 1995-2003, he was Head of helicrew Work in Valencia and Murcia wildfires operational output. Since August 2003, working in the Valencia Fire Consortium as forester, forestry operating coordinating, directing the Advanced Command Point or firefighting operations. He is founder and partner of Pau Costa Foundation

Sr. Marc Castellnou. Pau Costa Foundation Supervisory Board Chairman. Fire Analyst at Generalitat of Catalonia- GRAF Area. Forester (1997). Master of Forest Fires (2005). Head of GRAF- Catalonia. Fire Fighting Boss by MIMAM (2006), Director of the UFF CTFC (1997-1999). Fire Paradox Project Integrator (2006-2010). Coordinator of research projects in the fields of modeling of fuels, fire ecology and fire management. Organization and presentation at international congresses, specialized courses and technical conferences (1995-2010).

Dr. Ammar Boumezbeur. Ph. D Biology, he is currently Director of Protection of Flora and Fauna, General Directorate of Forestry, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of the Government of Algeria. Its mission is the protection of forests against fires, the conservation of protected areas, conservation of flora, fauna and the development of hunting activities..

Mr. Christophe Besacier. FAO Forestry Department. Secretariat of Silva Mediterranean. This committee is the only international forum dedicated to issues of Mediterranean forests in Mediterranean countries that are part of the Forestry Commission and the Flora and Fauna for Africa, the European Forestry Commission and the Forestry Commission for the Near East where they can meet, share experiences and develop cooperative programs. The Committee has the participation of twenty-six countries and the European Community, and often non-member countries are invited to the meetings as observers.

10 Mr. Andreas Schuck. Since February 2009 Head of the Regional Office of Central Europe and the Observatory of Forests in Europe - EFICENT-OEF. Prior to his current appointment, he was the Head of Program "Forest Resources and Information" Research Program from September 1997 until December 2008 (current name of the program: "The forecast and information")

Mr. Alejandro García. Forest Engineering to the University St. Teresa of Avila and Forestry Engineer from the Polytechnic University of Madrid. Currently, Head of the Technical Section Caceres The Forest Service's Forest Management Planning and the Directorate General of Environment of the Junta de Extremadura.

Dra. María Gafo. Maria Gafo began his international career at the European Commission's to the General Direction for Energy and Transport in Environmental Policy Unit. Then, in the Department of Industry was Head of Forest Industry Team that prepared the Plan of Action "Innovative and Sustainable Forest Industry". Today she develops the Unity "bioenergy, climate change and forests" DG Agriculture and Rural Development where she is Head of Forestry and responsible for the development of the New Forest Strategy of the European Union

Mr. Luis Berbiela Head of Forestry and Soil Protection of the Ministry of Environment - Balearic Islands Government. Forest Engineering- Polytechnic University of Madrid, specialized in Planning and Management of Protected Natural Areas. He was deputy director of the Doñana National Park (1982-1987). Representative of the Autonomous Community of the Balearic Islands in the National Forestry Committee, Committee to Combat Forest Fires (CLIF) and the National Committee for the Improvement and Conservation of Forest Genetic Resources.

Sra. Elena Hernández Forestry Engineer at the Polytechnic University of Madrid. He has served as Brigade helicrew and Technical Operations Technician wildfires in Castile and León, Madrid and Andalusia. Since 2009 belongs to the Corps of Engineers and state she practices in the area of Forest Fire Defense Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Environment. Service is responsible for Reinforced Brigade Forest Fire (BRIF) coordinates security issues extinction, staff education and training, as well as international issues related to forest fires.
