THE ALPINE CLUB OF CANADA ACC GEAR LIST — SCRAMBLING CAMPS WITH HUTS

Suggested Clothing List

 Baselayer top and bottoms (synthetic or merino wool); t-shirt top recommended for warmer months  Comfortable hiking pants or pant/short combo (should be softshell or quick-dry)  Fleece or other synthetic jacket/sweater (insulation layer)  Down or synthetic insulated jacket  Gore-Tex jacket (or equivalent waterproof/breathable outer shell w/hood)  Wind/waterproof shell pants (Gore-Tex or equivalent, preferably full side-zip)  Warm wool or synthetic socks  Tip: add a thin liner sock if you are prone to blisters  Warm gloves (2 pairs)  Waterproof over-gloves or mitts  Toque (warm hat) or balaclava  Sun hat with neck and ear protection  Comfortable hut clothing for evenings  Hut booties, light shoes, or sandals for hut Personal Equipment

 Medium backpack (45-60 litres) for personal equipment and food.  Sleeping bag (+5°C to -10°C/41F to 14F, depending on your comfort level)  Sunglasses — close-fitting with good UV protection & side shields

Gear List: Scrambling Camps With Huts ACC Adventures

 Sunscreen and lip protection with minimum SPF 30  Water bottle(s) — 1 litre MINIMUM, wide mouth, plastic with tight lid  Small personal first aid kit – band-aids, moleskin, duct tape, medications, etc.  Toilet kit including towel and “Camp Suds” (biodegradable soap)  Headlamp — with spare batteries and bulb  Toilet paper (enough for one hut overnight for yourself)  Lighter Equipment

 Light boots or sturdy hiking boots (hiking shoes NOT permitted: boots should have a stiff sole, be waterproof, and allow you to kick into snow).  Climbing helmet  Mountaineering - approximately 55 - 70 cm in length  Light & triple-action — depending on conditions: please contact the office 2 weeks prior to your trip.  , mountaineering-style OR micro-spikes— depending on conditions: please contact the office 2 weeks prior to your trip. Food

 Food is NOT included. Please ask the office for a sample meal plan if you need assistance with what to bring.  Plan for the following meals: breakfast, lunch & dinner on day 1; breakfast & lunch on day 2 Optional Equipment

 Collapsible trekking/ski poles for hiking: highly recommended for descent  Neck tube (Buff or other brand): can turn into headband or face protection  Shorts/t-shirt (depending on conditions)  Earplugs (good for sleeping in noisy huts)  Camera, spare batteries and memory card  Pocket knife (Swiss Army style)  Thermos  Map and compass/Altimeter/GPS  Reading material/journal/pencil  Boot waterproofing  Small personal amount of liquor/treats, if desired

Note: If you show up without proper footwear or equipment, your guides have the right to refuse your participation in the Abbot or Silver Spray to Woodbury. In this case, no refund will be offered.

The ACC will supply all group gear including ropes, first aid kit, etc.
