In KINGSWAY 21 Charity Exhibition Varsity Volleyball Game cross country the Junior varsity girls won the 22 Tri Conferences 5-8pm provincial title and both varsity teams came in second 28-29 Choir Retreat place. In addition, many of our students are involved ~~~~~ in soccer, hockey, cheer, dance, water polo and ACCESS VIA DECEMBER 2018 ultimate as well as in a wide variety of clubs. Grade twelve students have the opportunity to attend a University Fair at Sturgeon Creek High School on November 7th, This fair showcases universities from across Canada and provides students the opportunity to visit booths and gather information on various universities. Guidance Information: GRAD INFO: Grade 12 students are reminded to fill out their order forms (a copy is available in the student office) and bring in $40.00 to Nadia, the career intern, or Ms. Longstreet in the guidance office by December 13th. This cost includes the rental of the gown for the grad ceremony, the purchase of the cap and a 5 x 7 photo of the grad receiving their diploma. The Counselling Department is incorporating ‘Mindfulness’, as a calming technique, with students who visit indicating that they are experiencing anxiety or stress in their lives. Mindfulness teaches us to bring our full attention to what we are doing and when we are doing it, in a non-judgmental manner. Put simply, mindfulness consists of cultivating awareness of the mind and body and living in the here and now. Students may want to consider the apps, Calm in the Storm or Insight Timer which help people to meditate, sleep and relax. Parents are encouraged to view the website: Kids in the Know and cybertip.ca if they have any questions or concerns surrounding the issues of children and texting or using technological communications. Grade 11 Exam registration Completed. You are officially registered as anticipated candidates to write the IB Chemistry Exam on the afternoon of Friday, May 15, and the morning of Monday, May 18,2020. Please remember that Monday, May 18, 2020 is Victoria Day.. CAS Volunteer Winnipeg www.canadian-universities.net/Volunteer/Manitoba-Winnipeg.html. You can select a volunteer opportunity by category and by organization. Here are a few of the numerous categories: Animals, Arts and Culture, Children and Youth, Environment, Health and Medicine, Leadership, Music, Science and Technology, and Sports and Recreation. You should be volunteering and reflecting upon what you have learned. Reflections can be of many forms – CAS reflection form or .PDF form available from Mrs. Decelles, written text, journal, photo collage, scrapbook, blog, or a blended approach, etc. You are required to maintain and complete a portfolio as evidence of your engagement in CAS. Your CAS portfolio will be a collection of reflections that showcase your CAS experiences. The CAS portfolio will be looked at and discussed at three student-arranged CAS interviews with Mrs. Decelles by spring of your Grade 12 year. Grade 12 Exam registration Completed. You are officially registered as IB candidates to write the International Baccalaureate exams from Tuesday, May 5, to Friday, May 22, 2020. Make sure that you have a copy of the exam schedule from Mrs. Decelles. Please note that IB Computer Science will be written during the afternoon of Victoria Day, May 18, 2020. Extended Essay Please be conscious of the following meeting times that must be recorded, dated and initialed by your supervisor on the Extended Essay – Reflections on planning and progress form (EE/RPPF). Please see Mrs. Decelles to get a copy of the form if you need one. I.B. Graduation IB Graduation, the official celebration of the May 2019 IB graduating class, will take place on December 18th at 7:00 pm at Kelvin High School. The school will contact each graduate in November for information and to confirm their attendance. Graduates of the 2019 class should email Mrs. Decelles at [email protected] to update their email address if it has changed since Grade 12.
