bomb the music industry! - album minus band download Music / Bomb the Music Industry! In 2004, Jeff Rosenstock was faced with a conundrum. He wanted to record a song, but his band, The Arrogant Sons Of Bitches, was taking a break. He eventually used his laptop to record it in the bedroom of his parents' house, uploaded it to the internet, and credited to Bomb the Music Industry!. After TASOB broke up, Bomb the Music Industry! became Jeff's main musical focus. By 2008, BtMI! had become more of a musical collective, featuring a slightly different lineup for every song on Scrambles . Over the next three years, the collective trimmed itself down to five more-or-less consistent members with a lot of guests. However, it would only last for two more years, and Bomb the Music Industry! called an indefinite hiatus after their final show on January 19th, 2014, later admitting that there was an "absolute zero" chance of any kind of reunion. They remain surprisingly influential and well known for their DIY ethic which included homemade T-shirts, forming their own record label, and giving away their records for free. In 2017, Jeff composed the music for the Cartoon Network series Craig of the Creek. Bomb the music industry! - album minus band download. According to the Wikipedia: Bomb The Music Industry! is a musical collective from Baldwin, Nassau County, New York. They write, produce, record (sometimes only through the microphone on an iMac), and distribute all of their music under the leadership of lead songwriter and producer Jeff Rosenstock.

LISTENING IN THE LIVING ROOM: THE PURSUIT OF AUTHENTIC SPACES AND SOUNDS IN DALLAS/FORT WORTH (DFW) DO -IT-YOURSELF (DIY) PUNK ROCK Sean P eters Thesis Prepared for the Degree of MASTER OF ARTS UNIVERSITY OF NORTH TEXAS December 2017 APPROVED: Catherine Ragland, Major Professor Steven Friedson, Committee Member Rebecca Geoffroy-Schwinden, Committee Member Benjamin Brand, Interim Chair of the Division of Music History, Theory, and Ethnomusicology and Director of Graduate Studies in the College of Music John W. Richmond, Dean of the College of Music Victor Prybutok, Dean of the Toulouse Graduate School Peters, Sean. Listening in the Living Room: The Pursuit of Authentic Spaces and Sounds in Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW) Do-It-Yourself (DIY) Punk Rock. Master of Arts (Music), December 2017, 97 pp., 4 figures, bibliography, 98 titles. In the Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW) do-it-yourself (DIY) punk scene, participants attempt to adhere to notions of authenticity that dictate whether a band, record label, performance venue, or individual are in compliance with punk philosophy. These guiding principles champion individual expression, contributions to one's community (scene), independence from the mainstream music industry and consumerism, and the celebration of amateurism and the idea that everyone should "do it yourself." While each city or scene has its own punk culture, participants draw on their perceptions of the historic legacy of punk and on experiences with contemporaries from around the world. For this thesis, I emphasize the significance of performance spaces and the sonic aesthetic of the music in enacting and reinforcing notions of punk authenticity. The live performance of music is perceived as the most authentic setting for punk music, and bands go to great lengths to recreate this soundscape in the recording studio.

  • Album of the Week: Stardeath and White Dwarfs' Wastoid,Album Of
Album of the Week: Stardeath and White Dwarfs’ Wastoid It can be a daunting to be related to a music superstar. Enter Dennis Coyne, nephew of Wayne Coyne, the insanely enigmatic frontman of acid-punk act The Flaming Lips. Dennis’ band Stardeath and White Dwarfs have a new album out called Wastoid and you can see the influence of his uncle throughout each track. What sets this act apart is the heavy fuzz from the bass and guitar distortions that can make your head spin. It can be tough living up to someone else’s fame, but Wastoid shows that Stardeath and White Dwarfs are looking to forge their own path. If you have heard the Dark Side Of The Moon cover album Stardeath and White Dwarfs did with The Flaming Lips, Peaches and Henry Rollins back in 2009, then Wastoid should show a lot of similarities. There’s a great psychedelic presence on the album with each song taking you from one place to the next. Each track provides a different experience but each is a pleasant one. Staying true to their crazy and weird Oklahoma roots, Stardeath and White Dwarfs never cease to astound from start to finish with their new album. It’s groovy, fun and trippy with a taste for the abstract that comes together to form something unique and wonderful. So the World Cup is finally over. Since a portion of your day is all the sudden freed up, dive into my top tracks off of the Album Of The Week. Maybe it’s not as fun as watching a bunch of dudes run around for 90 minutes, but it surely won’t be boring.

NO DREAM is the fourth full-length from Jeff Rosenstock. It comes at a time of unparalleled chaos and confusion, division and despair, the depths of which would have been impossible to predict when much of it was being written over the course of the last few years. And yet the record feels prescient, unexpectedly and uniquely suited for this moment. “It was feeling like a very personal record for me,” says Rosenstock, newly settled in Los Angeles after a lifetime on the opposite coast. “A lot of it was stemming from the anxiety I was feeling from the last two years, this existential crisis of wondering who I am.” Rosenstock has found himself in a surprising position. As he puts it simply: “I didn’t expect to be doing well, in my life, ever.” After building a cult following with the acerbic ska-punk of the Arrogant Sons of Bitches and DIY heroics of Bomb the Music Industry!, Rosenstock’s first proper solo record, 2015’s We Cool?, was a step into uncharted territory, fully untethered from genre and expectation. Followed by 2016’s WORRY. and the surprise New Year’s Day launch of POST- in the early hours of 2018, Rosenstock was facing down that least punk of opportunities: a career playing music. “I got so used to putting out records that only a few people in the punk underground liked,” he says. “And a lot of people in the punk underground also didn’t like them, either.” Except things have changed, and NO DREAM arrives with an entirely new set of expectations in an entirely new era.

  • Can Jeff Rosenstock Bring Back Ska?
:: View email as a web page :: Jeff Rosenstock's Ska Dream — his recent ska-themed redux of his great 2020 album No Dream — reminds me of the late nineties ska that I heard in high school and college. Back then you really couldn’t avoid ska. Even a person like me — I don’t mind ska but I’m hardly a hardcore fan — attended ska music festivals. I have even skanked on occasion! Now it looks like ska might be making a comeback. What’s interesting to me about ska is how antithetical it is to a lot of modern indie now. For one thing, it’s upbeat and celebratory, as opposed to slow and vibe-y. Also, it’s very much about musicianship and people playing in big bands, as opposed to a person who records alone in bedrooms. It’s very social music, which might be why it’s hitting so hard around now. After being cooped up for so long, we’re all ready to skank.
