Competing in the home state of current Lady Flames VOLLEYBALL Kainah Williams (Spring Branch) and Aspen Thompson (San Antonio), Liberty will take on South Fort Wayne Invitational Aug. 24 vs. Indiana State L, 1-3 Carolina (3-0) and Houston Baptist (4-0) on Friday before facing the host Rice Owls on Saturday. Aug. 24 vs. Oakland W, 3-2 The host Rice Owls are the first of six opponents on Liberty’s 2018 schedule who appeared in Aug. 25 at Purdue Fort Wayne L, 1-3 the postseason last year, as Rice competed in the inaugural Postseason NIVC. South Carolina is Rice Adidas Invitational I the first non-conference opponent that Liberty will face in two separate locations in a single regular Aug. 31 vs. South Carolina 11 a.m. season since playing a home-and-home series with Virginia Tech in 2001. Aug. 31 vs. Houston Baptist 5 p.m. Sept. 1 at Rice Noon STARTING ROTATION Maryland Invitational 1. Liberty opened its 2018 campaign with a 1-2 showing at the Purdue Fort Wayne Invitational. The Sept. 8 vs. South Carolina 1 p.m. Lady Flames downed Oakland, 3-2, in the second match of the season, and suffered a pair of tightly- Sept. 8 vs. Colgate 4 p.m. contested matches to Indiana State and Purdue Fort Wayne. Junior middle blocker Anna Gragg is a two-time Big South All-Conference performer, including Sept. 14 vs. LSU 11 a.m. Sept. 14 at SMU 8 p.m. first-team honors in 2017. She reached double-figures in kills in each of the first two matches this Sept. 15 vs. Abilene Christian 1 p.m. season and leads the Lady Flames in total kills. 4. Junior right-side hitter Casey Goodwin, the 2018 Fan-Voted ASUN Preseason Player of the Year, Sept. 21 at North Florida * 6 p.m. Sept. 22 at Jacksonville * 6 p.m. was a second-team all-conference selection last year.
