On March 18th, 2017, the Brown County Chapter of Pheasants Forever will be holding our 30th Annual Banquet at the Orchid Inn in Sleepy Eye. Attended by around 400 people each year, our Banquet is our primary fundraising tool. 100% of the funds raised stay with the Brown County Chapter, to be invested in Brown County. Our banquet is wildly successful and has resulted in Pheasants Forever, Inc., investing over $3 million in Brown County since our founding over two decades ago. Of course, we owe the success of our organization to our donors, volunteers, and most importantly, members like you. We’d like to take this opportunity to briefly describe what your investment in our Chapter of Pheasants Forever means to Brown County. Although our name implies that a gaudy game bird is the primary benefactor of your donation, the benefits extend beyond our favorite game bird to other wildlife, soil and water conservation, and the quality of life in Brown County, too. Brown County Pheasants Forever has contributed to the completion of 300 habitat projects on over 3,000 acres of private land in Brown 3 **Italics indicates donor of item ***Please note, due to late notice from our supplier, the description, brand or specifications of some prizes may vary from what is printed in the program. Brown County PF on the Web: http://www.browncountypf.org Email: [email protected] County. These projects benefit not only pheasants, but all wildlife, and help reduce soil erosion and protect our waters. Although private projects are an integral part of our mission, our major focus has been on the acquisition of public land. Brown County Pheasants Forever has participated in the acquisition of 19 properties totaling over 2000 acres of land that all varieties of game and non-game wildlife call home, and which are now open to the public for multiple uses, particularly hunting, as part of the state Wildlife Management Areas (WMA) program. Your contributions made these projects happen. With your continued support, that $10 or $20 you spend on a raffle can by leveraged by Pheasants Forever to create $100 or $200 in grant funding for projects right here at home. During the past year, we applied for grant funding to expand and improve our existing WMAs. Unfortunately we were not awarded any grants but we have several potential acquisitions on the horizon. We continue to improve and expand our youth and hunter recruitment programs. During the past seven years, we have supported youth shooting programs in New Ulm and Springfield, archery programming in the Comfrey schools, supported the New Ulm High School Trap Team, and once again held our annual youth hunt at River Ridge Gun Club. We continue to provide corn to feed pheasants and more so, encourage food and winter thermal cover plantings as a permanent solution to our winter weather. As you can see, your investment in Brown County Pheasants Forever has a large and lasting impact. We hope you are pleased with what you’ve accomplished as a member of Brown County Pheasants Forever. It is important to remember our goals and what we are really working for when we attend the banquet. We do our best to assure you a good time while at the same time raising money to accomplish these objectives. This year there will be over 30 guns and prizes with a retail value in excess of $40,000.00. Although we are confident you will have a good time, please let us know what we can do to improve the experience for you in the future. Better yet, plan on attending our monthly meetings held the 2nd Tuesday of each month at the Servicemen’s Club in Sleepy Eye. Meetings begin at 8 to accommodate travel for members from all over the county. 4 **Italics indicates donor of item ***Please note, due to late notice from our supplier, the description, brand or specifications of some prizes may vary from what is printed in the program. • INFANTRY OPERATIONS and WEAPONS USAGE in KOREA Winter of 195031 by S
by S. L. A. Marshall *.N ?. Commentary On INFANTRY OPERATIONS AND WEAPONS USAGE IN KOREA Winter of 195031 by S. L. A. Marshall The operations of Eighth Army which formed the basis for this study were of the period of maximum reverse and then recovery. The report does not reach back to the initial period when troops were green and our commitments were so limited that there was seldom a chance for an equal fight on local ground. Nor does it extend forward into the period when the fronts became stabilized and positional warfare ensued. It focuses exclusively upon the campaign of the first winter in which 8th Army experienced its greatest and most prolonged stress; the conditions peculiar to that period provide the best opportunity for the clear profiling of weapons, tactical and leadership values in combat against the background of training methods and the armament program. The author of the report developed the post-combat company critique technique in Central Pacific Theater and then applied it in European Theater during World War II. He used the same general method in Korea, beginning with the November battle. The one major change for OR0 purposes was that the method was amplified so as to include more precise detail on the logistics of the infantry fight and place primary emphasis on the fighting characteristics of the new enemy. The commentary is divided into three parts - the behavior of men in the use of weapons, the behavior of weapons as men use them, and the use of information in augmenting fighting power.
