Lani Guinier's Becoming Gentlemen: Women, Law School, and Insti tutional Change exposes the fact that although women and minorities are being admitted to law schools in unprecedented numbers, they are not achieving the same academic success as their white male peers. 1 Guinier's studies reveal that the law school pedagogy itself alienates women, negatively affects their academic success, and thereby repro duces and legitimizes existing social stratification.2
