TIME TRAVEL TO ANCIENT CIVILIZATIONS AND DISCOVER WORLD CULTURES ON MYTHQUEST A NEW LIVE ACTION FAMILY SERIES SLATED TO PREMIERE MONDAY, FEBRUARY 25 AT 4:30PM ON CBC TV

New 26 episode half-hour series stars Gemini Award winner Meredith Henderson (The Adventures of Shirley Holmes) and Christopher Jacot (The Famous Jett Jackson)

February 19, 2002—(Regina, SK) MythQuest, the new family drama series that explores ancient civilizations and world cultures is slated to kick off CBC TV Infomatrix, the network’s new hosted after-school block, on Monday, February 25 at 4:30pm ET on CBC TV. The 26 episode half-hour series is a co-production of VIF International Film and Minds Eye Entertainment in association with David Braun Productions and TiMe Filmproduktion.

“MythQuest is an exceptional series for both kids and parents to explore the foundation of all the world’s cultures, history and mythology,” says Minds Eye Entertainment’ executive producer Kevin DeWalt.

Combining live-action drama and sophisticated computer-generated imaging, MythQuest follows brother and sister team Alex (Christopher Jacot – The Famous Jett Jackson) and Cleo Bellows (Meredith Henderson – The Adventures of Shirley Holmes) as they cross into a cyber world of mythic imagination. Like a magic looking glass, the computer screen in their father’s study becomes a gateway to the kingdom of myths: an “alter” world into which their father (Joseph Kell – Relativity) a celebrated archaeologist, has disappeared. With the help of their father’s colleague Max (Matthew Walker – Little Women), the two set out on a quest to search for him while their mother, Lily (Wendy Anderson – Something More), co-operates with the local police investigation led by Detective Saybrook (Shaun Johnston – Jake and the Kid).

Episode by episode, they pit themselves against the epic creatures and dark forces which have driven humankind. Each adventure-episode is based on a story selected from myths throughout the centuries and from all over the world. From the Greek myth “The Minotaur” and the Egyptian fable “Isis and Osiris”; to the Arthurian legend of “Sir Caradoc” and the Aztec story “Quetzalcoatl”, each ancient story is rendered with modern, state-of- the-art computer graphics and blended with contemporary characters in each episode.

MythQuest guest stars include: Joely Collins (Cold Squad), William B. Davis (The X-Files), Emily Hampshire (Made in , Life Before This), Earl Pastko (The Sweet Hereafter, Highway 61), Enuka Okuma (DaVinci’s Inquest, Big Sound), (Legends of the Fall), Dominic Zamprogna (Edgemont), Tantoo Cardinal (Smoke Signals) and more.

In addition to the television series, plans are underway for a companion web site, computer game and book series published by Random House in fall of 2002. The series is slated for broadcast in the U.S. on PBS in April.
