  • Lola at Le Mans 2007 Media Guide
Lola at Le Mans 2007 Media Guide B08/60 LMP1 Coupe Preview Test Day Report Lola Team Profiles Complete Lola Le Mans Results A Message from Martin Birrane It goes without saying that Le Mans is the jewel in the crown of global sportscar competition. Indeed, having both raced and entered cars at La Sarthe, it is to my mind the biggest and best motor race in the world. This year, Lola is privileged to have six teams running Huntingdon-built chassis. It is extremely pleasing to see three each of our LMP1 and LMP2 cars here and with such a variety of engines, too. You will find elsewhere in this media guide Lola’s complete results at Le Mans – an invitation to conjure up your own memories from the wonderful past of this uniquely demanding race – and also a peek into the future with the first images of our new LMP1 coupe. I have long believed that Lola’s fortunes are a barometer of the health of sportscar racing and at the moment the market is looking strong, with this weekend’s six Lola entries and the imminent arrival of the first-ever customer LMP1 coupe, the Lola B08/60. As we look ahead to Lola’s 50th anniversary in 2008, the commitment to state-of-the-art technical facilities and outstanding engineering talent will remain the cornerstone of our success and appeal to both manufacturers and privateers seeking sportscar success. I would like to close by personally wishing our customers – and all of our friends throughout the sportscar racing community – the very best of luck in what promises to be an exceptional 75th running of the classic 24 Hours of Le Mans.

You could have expected that this would be a really big one for Porsche, with it being their 70th anniversary year, but the Stuttgart manufacturer really pushed the boat out with this one. Already the news wires are ringing hot with the announcement of the new Porsche 935 Clubsport (Type 991 Gen.2). With all the action scheduled for the forthcoming weekend, it is certainly all happening at the Porsche Rennsport Reunion VI at the Laguna Seca Raceway. Lola at Le Mans 2008 Media Guide Le Mans Test Day Report Lola LMP Coupe Inside Story Lola Team Profiles Lola 50th Anniversary All-Time Top Ten Lolas Peter Ashdown Interview More Than Motorsport Lola Sportscar Register 1998-2008 Complete Lola Le Mans Results Welcome from Martin Birrane 2008 is a very special year for Lola. Reaching the milestone of 50 years in race car manufacturing is quite a remarkable achievement. For most of this time Lola has been the largest and most successful constructor of race cars, producing winning designs for virtually every category from Formula Ford and Sports 2000 to Formula 1 and Le Mans Prototypes. The 24 Heures du Mans is the greatest motor race in the world and I am heartened to see a further increase in our entries this year to seven – the largest since 1979. Lola is currently the only constructor offering open and closed cockpit models in both LMP classes. We have enjoyed LMP2 victories in the last four races at La Sarthe and hope to add another in 2008. We also have all the resources major manufacturers require for a Le Mans programme and are actively seeking opportunities to realise our vision of winning Le Mans outright. The Lola factory, with its state-of-the-art wind tunnel,seven-post test rig, constantly updated CFD,FEA,and CAD systems, and top engineering team produces cars which are not just fast but also safe and beautiful. Lola’s capabilities also extend to the supply of composites and engineering services to the automotive, defence, aerospace, and communication sectors.
