  • NEWS from F1 BOSTON
January, 2008 Contact: Laura Baker FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 781-228-2108 RJ Valentine Finishes 4th in GT Class at Rolex 24 At Daytona Sportscar legend competes at Rolex 24 for 22nd time Daytona Beach, FL (January 27, 2008) – RJ Valentine, the sportscar driver from Hingham, Mass., finished the 46th annual Rolex 24 At Daytona 12th overall and 4th in the GT class Sunday, narrowly missing his second consecutive podium finish at Daytona International Speedway. 66 cars started the race, run around the 3.56-mile tri-oval and tight infield road course, a number that seems to grow every year. Valentine, driving the No. 64 J Lowe Racing/TRG Globus/Adopt A Pig/CRG/Maxter/Rotax/MBA Group/F1 Air/SRS/NMT Porsche GT3 with Jim Lowe, Jim Pace, Tim Sugden, and Johannes van Overbeek, was forced to miss 5 laps of track action in the night after being punted off the track by a competing Ferrari. The No. 64 car completed 656 laps of the famed Daytona International circuit, for and average speed of 97.172mph, and rounded out a stellar showing for TRG’s team cars. One year removed from a 2nd place finish at the Rolex 24, Valentine contributed to a team effort that saw TRG Porsches come home 2-3-4 in the GT class at the world’s most famous endurance race. “I was driving in my first stint at about 8pm when I got cut off by one of the two Ferraris in the race – in order to miss the guy, I had to jam on the brakes, which caused me to spin and I tagged the wall,” said Valentine.

Laura and Dan Boeschen, Peter Grauman, Penni Gladstone, Greg Fuller... My Week at Daytona with The Racer's Group David Bunch As many of you know, I was given the opportunity go to Daytona Beach Florida for the Grand Am Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona with fellow Redwood Region member Kevin Buckler's The Racers Group. TRG had entered seven GT3 Cup Porsches in the 24 Hour race and three 997's in the Koni Challenge race. What is involved in this type of effort, I will try to tell you. Well, it starts out with 7 brand new GT3's, some that TRG picked up in Florida when in town for the December test at Daytona. When these brand new GT3's arrive at the TRG shop in Petaluma they are taken apart and reassembled to TRG's specifics. Also there is the work on the new 997's to get them ready. To get these ten Porsches to Daytona for the races require a convoy of three semi-trailers and three two-car trailers. Not only having to haul ten Porsches, but spare body parts, engines, mechanics tool boxes, tires, six sets of rims per car, boxes of TRG apparel (shirts, sweaters, t-shirts, jackets, fire suits, hats) and everything else for the effort. For a race lasting 24 hours, each car needs 4 or 5 drivers. Some of the drivers were professional drivers who make a living at this, and some were "gentleman" drivers who have driven in different club races etc. TRG had entered 33 drivers including four factory drivers from Porsche.

  • Lola at Le Mans 2007 Media Guide
Lola at Le Mans 2007 Media Guide B08/60 LMP1 Coupe Preview Test Day Report Lola Team Profiles Complete Lola Le Mans Results A Message from Martin Birrane It goes without saying that Le Mans is the jewel in the crown of global sportscar competition. Indeed, having both raced and entered cars at La Sarthe, it is to my mind the biggest and best motor race in the world. This year, Lola is privileged to have six teams running Huntingdon-built chassis. It is extremely pleasing to see three each of our LMP1 and LMP2 cars here and with such a variety of engines, too. You will find elsewhere in this media guide Lola’s complete results at Le Mans – an invitation to conjure up your own memories from the wonderful past of this uniquely demanding race – and also a peek into the future with the first images of our new LMP1 coupe. I have long believed that Lola’s fortunes are a barometer of the health of sportscar racing and at the moment the market is looking strong, with this weekend’s six Lola entries and the imminent arrival of the first-ever customer LMP1 coupe, the Lola B08/60. As we look ahead to Lola’s 50th anniversary in 2008, the commitment to state-of-the-art technical facilities and outstanding engineering talent will remain the cornerstone of our success and appeal to both manufacturers and privateers seeking sportscar success. I would like to close by personally wishing our customers – and all of our friends throughout the sportscar racing community – the very best of luck in what promises to be an exceptional 75th running of the classic 24 Hours of Le Mans.
