Johannes Strassmann Und Jan Heitmann Für Den „ Johannes Strassmann und Jan Heitmann für den „EPT Player of the Year Award“ nominiert Die fünfte Saison der European Poker Tour (EPT) wird am 9. September 2008 mit einer ganz besonderen Veranstaltung eingeläutet. Am Vorabend der EPT Barcelona Open werden im eleganten Opium Mar in der spanischen Metropole erstmals die European Poker Tour Awards verliehen. Präsentiert wird diese feierliche Zeremonie zu Ehren der besten Spieler und Leistungen während der gesamten vierten EPT-Saison natürlich von Team-PokerStars-Pro Daniel Negreanu, der schon bei der Verleihung der PokerStars Scandinavian Poker Awards im Februar 2008 souverän und mit einem gehörigen Schuss Humor durch das Programm führte. Aus deutscher Sicht besonders erfreulich ist die Nominierung der beiden PokerStars ShootingStars Johannes Strassmann aus Berlin und Jan Heitmann aus München. Beide sind in der wohl wichtigsten der insgesamt sieben Kategorien nominiert und dürfen sich berechtigte Hoffnungen auf den Titel des „Player of the Year“ machen. Natürlich hat es die Konkurrenz in dieser Kategorie in sich, denn die Liste der Nominierten wird durch Team-PokerStars-Pro Luca Pagano aus Italien, den Norweger Trond Erik Eidsvig und den Niederländer Thierry van den Berg komplettiert. In den weiteren Kategorien wurden unter anderem Team- PokerStars-Pro Bertrand ElkY Grospellier (Best Performance), Annette Obrestad (Best Newcomer) und Mike McDonald (Foto unten rechts) nominiert. Der 18-jährige Kanadier, der die EPT in Dortmund zu seinen Gunsten entscheiden konnte, ist gleich viermal für einen EPT-Award nominiert worden, unter anderem in den Kategorien „Best Newcomer“ und „Best PokerStars Qualifier“. Wer am Ende das Rennen machen wird, entscheidet in fünf Kategorien eine Expertenjury, die sich aus Team-PokerStars-Pro Victoria Coren, Teamkollege und EPT-Gründer John Duthie, dem ehemaligen Pokerroom-Manager von PokerStars, Lee Jones, und PokerNews-Chefredakteur John Caldwell zusammensetzt. Zwei Preisträger werden dagegen in einer öffentlichen Abstimmung ermittelt. Vom 18. bis zum 29. August haben Pokerfans in aller Welt die Möglichkeit, unter www.ept.com/awards ihre Stimme abzugeben, um den Gewinner des „People’s Choice Award“ zu wählen. „Dieser Sonderpreis ist ein echter Publikumspreis und bietet allen Pokerfans die Möglichkeit, den Spieler zu ehren, der sie in der vergangenen Saison am meisten beeindruckt hat“, so John Duthie. Bei der zweiten öffentlichen Abstimmung in der Kategorie „Poker Writer’s Award“ sind dagegen alle akkreditierten Medienvertreter aufgerufen, den Spieler oder die Spielerin zu ehren, der oder die nicht nur am Tisch, sondern auch gegenüber den Medien den besten Eindruck hinterlassen hat. With a firm financial foundation in place, we have been able to erect beautiful, green facilities that have enhanced programs and student learning across all three divisions. The Tiger Center provides the educational resources that we have come to expect from a world class fitness center. The construction of the Black Box Theater has already enriched our performing arts program in the upper school. By moving upper school classrooms into the new buildings, we have been able to expand our middle and lower school facilities. The middle school, now with a stronger educational culture and identity, extends vertically over four floors. Like the middle school, the lower school is now characterized by its customized, dedicated learning spaces. A growth in space means a growth in programs. Most impressive is the introduction of a middle school competitive sports program. This comprehensive competitive sports program prepares our students to be capable athletes and gracious competitors at the upper school level and in life. Our programs continue to excel in other areas as well. Public speaking, serves as an example of program excellence that has grown for TAS students.
