The VE Day Anniversary Air Show tells the story of how the Second World War was won in the air. Flying displays are accompanied by music, wartime speeches and recordings of veterans’ memories, bringing to life the events of 70 years ago.

VE Day Salute B-17 Flying Fortress Sally B leads a poignant commemorative display honouring the 70th anniversary of VE Day and the 70th anniversary of B-17 Flying Fortress Sally B.

Although VE Day was commemorated with a mixture of relief and weariness across Europe, for many the Second World War was not over yet. Japan continued to fight in the Pacific and many more lives were lost before finally the Allies could celebrate peace with Victory in Japan day.
