Revisions: Revised by Jeremy Katz (February 2011) Processed by: Ryan Qualls Arrangement: The collection is arranged into three series and four subseries: Series I: Air Shows and Aero Teams Subseries 1A: Air Shows Subseries 1B: Aero Teams 1 Series II: Museums and Static Displays Subseries IIA: United States Subseries IIB: Foreign Series III: Gate Guards and Individual Aircraft Biographical/Historical Note: The Aircraft Slide Collection was compiled by Wayne and Karen Pittman during their travels to various air shows and museums throughout the North America and Europe. Scope and Content: The Aircraft Slide Collection is an assortment of color slides produced by Wayne and Karen Pittman on their travels to various air shows and museums around North America and Europe. Each series is housed in its own flat storage, three-ring binder box. For all of the materials within the collection, items were first divided into subject matters then arranged chronologically or alphabetically. Each slide is sleeved in plastic pages containing twenty slides per sheet. Slides are arranged left to right, top to bottom. Series I, Air Shows and Aero Teams, is arranged into two subseries: Subseries IA: Air Shows, and Subseries IB: Aero Teams. Each of these subseries is organized chronologically. Within each file, slides are organized alphabetically according to manufacturer. Series II, Museums and Static Displays, is arranged into two subseries: Subseries IIA: United States, and Subseries IIB: Foreign. Each of these subseries is organized alphabetically according to the name of the city or air base that the museum is located. Within each file, slides are organized alphabetically according to manufacturer. Series III, Gate Guards and Individual Aircraft, contains slides of various aircraft that have been mounted on a plinth and used as a static display near the main entrance to museums. This series also contains slides of miscellaneous aircraft. Within each file, slides are organized alphabetically according to manufacturer.
