6 March 2018 SENIOR RESOURCES EXECUTIVES ANNOUNCED AS MINING AWARDS JUDGES The Bowen Basin Mining Club today announced a panel of six mining industry leaders as the peer judges for the 2018 Queensland Mining Awards. The judges, with expertise in management and operations ranging from coal to minerals, gas and procurement, will assess all entries across the eight categories. Director Jodie Currie says she is looking forward to working with the panel, which includes: • Peter Kane – Chief Operating Officer, QCoal Group • Dan Kadziela – Head of Business Development, Minerals Australia, BHP • Ian Rees – Chief Advisor and Integrated Planning, Rio Tinto Aluminium • Michael Jones – Production Manager, Jellinbah Resources • Heidi Cooper – Group Manager, Government and Corporate Affairs, APLNG • Suzanne Mitchell – Regional Practice Manager, EconomX “Award finalists will be working for the chance to impress the judging panel, who over their careers have seen their fair share of innovation and collaboration in the resources industry,” said Ms Currie. The judging panel are all looking forward to unearthing stories of Queensland’s best contractors, suppliers and partnerships. Peter Kane, QCoal Group’s Chief Operating Officer, has a background in mining engineering as well as significant management experience in coal mining. He says that given the calibre of entrants to previous Awards, the judging process will be sensational. “Contractors in the mining and resources industry have been working harder than ever to innovate, both to keep their clients happy and to stay ahead of the changing demands of the sector. Each category of the Awards speaks to a different aspect of contractor excellence and I can’t wait to find the stories of quality,” said Mr Kane. Online entries for the Awards are open until Friday April 15th. Tickets for the Gala Presentation Dinner will go on sale in the next few weeks.
