Queen of Arsion Championship â“ The Queen of Arsion Championship was a womens professional wrestling championship owned by the Hyper Visual Fighting Arsion promotion. Like most professional wrestling championships, the title was won as a result of a scripted match, the championship, which was situated at the top of Arsions championship hierarchy, was introduced on December 18,1998, when Mariko Yoshida defeated Candy Okutsu to become the inaugural champion. The first event took place on February 18, 1998 and was called "Virgin". Arsion's wrestlers were trained at the promotion's dojo daily and attended Pancrase and Battlarts dojo events weekly, learning the styles of professional wrestling, lucha libre and shoot wrestling.[3] The following year, in an attempt to boost audience numbers, Arsion put wrestlers Ai Fujita, AKINO, Ayako Hamada and Candy Okutsu together to form a pop group called Cazai. Twin Star of Arsion Championship.     2014 was a unique year for pro-wrestling, one that will undoubtedly be viewed as historically significant in years to follow. Whether it is to be reflected upon positively or negatively is not only highly subjective, but also context-specific with major occurrences transpiring across the pro-wrestling world over the last 12 months, each with its own strong, and at times far reaching, consequences. The WWE launched its much awaited Network, New Japan continued to expand, CMLL booked lucha's biggest match in well over a decade, culminating in the country's first million dollar gate, TNA teetered more precariously on the brink of death than perhaps ever before, Daniel Bryan won the WWE's top prize, Dragon Gate and DDT saw continued success before their loyal niche audiences, Alberto Del Rio and CM Punk departed the WWE with one ending up in the most unexpected of places, a developing and divergent style produced some of the best indie matches of the year, the European scene flourished, the Shield disbanded, Batista returned, Daniel Bryan relinquished his championship, and the Undertaker's streak came to an unexpected and dramatic end. These are but some of the happenings, which made 2014 the year that it was, and it is in this year-book that we look to not only recap all of these events and more, but also contemplate their relevance to the greater pro-wrestling landscape, both for 2015 and beyond. It should be stated that this year-book was inspired by the DKP Annuals that were released in 2011 and 2012, in fact, it was the absence of a 2013 annual that inspired us to produce a year-book for 2014.

Thompson ABSTRACT This paper documents the important role of Western-style professional wrestling in the popular culture of Japan, focusing on the early years in which it was established, 1953-1963. These were also the years in which television achieved its phenomenal growth, and the symbiotic relationship between the "sport" and the medium is explored. It is also shown that the great popularity of professional wrestling in Japan is related to its embracing of a powerful theme: Japan against the world, the West, America. Western-style professional wrestling has an important place in the popular culture of Japan. The spectacle is nationally televised twice a week during prime time hours, not including UHF broadcasts. (Women's professional wrestling is also broadcast weekly.) Wrestlers are celebrities and appear on commercials, in advertisements, and as guests on quiz shows, cooking programs, musical programs, etc. In addition to the broadcast media, a number of so-called "sports" newspapers devote many column inches, screaming headlines and gory pictures to the bouts. (Indeed many of them got started about thirty years ago as pro wrestling sheets.) A glance at the shelves of one large book store in Osaka (Japan's second largest city) revealed about ninety titles on pro wrestling (versus about thirty for sumo.) This paper documents the popularity of Western-style professional wrestling in Japan, focusing on the early years in which it established its cultural role.

The site has been made dramatically easier to navigate, and the content is far more organised, which should make for a better user experience.
