Während die DTM nach zwei Jahrzehnten der Klasse-1-Tourenwagen erstmals auf GT3-Sportwagen wie den Audi R8 LMS setzt, nimmt die DTM Trophy mit seriennahen Modellen wie dem Audi R8 LMS GT4 ihre zweite Saison in Angriff. „Audi kennt die DTM bestens und ist mit zwölf Titelerfolgen alleine in der Fahrerwertung eine der beiden erfolgreichsten Marken der Geschichte. Für die DTM beginnt 2021 eine neue Zeitrechnung. Gerhard Berger ist es gelungen, die Class-1-Ära in eine hochattraktive Plattform auf Basis des GT-Motorsports zu überführen. Die Saison 2021 verspricht durch hohe Markenvielfalt und ein international hochkarätiges Fahrer-Line-up Spannung pur“, sagt Julius Seebach, Geschäftsführer der Audi Sport GmbH und verantwortlich für den Motorsport. „Unseren Kunden von Audi Sport customer racing bietet die neue DTM-Plattform die Möglichkeit, um den begehrten DTM-Titel zu kämpfen.
