Welcome to Stockholm! The City of Stockholm is pleased to invite you, together with other international students to a reception at the City Hall to greet you welcome to Stockholm - your new academic hometown. Date and time: Sunday 13 October 2019 at 14.00 (sharp) The reception will be hosted by the City of Stockholm. During the event you will also meet Stockholm Academic Forum, an organisation of 18 universities in Stockholm . During the welcome ceremony you will receive a brief introduction to the City of Stockholm and its famous City Hall. After the speeches, all guests will be invited to a mingle with Swedish fika. The reception ends at approximately 16.00. Please note! To enter the reception, you will have to present the official invitation card and an ID. The ticket is personal and you will not receive a new one if you lose it. For questions and further information contact the international office at your university. Dress code: smart casual The City Hall The City Hall is one of Sweden’s most famous buildings, built in 1923. The well-known Blue Hall (Blå Hallen), is frequently used for receptions and special events, such as the grand Nobel Prize Banquet which takes place on 10 December every year. The City of Stockholm administration is governed from the City Hall, around 200 politicians and civil servants have their offices in this building. The tower with the three golden crowns, the Swedish national coat of arms, rises 106 meters above the edifice. Transportation The City Hall is situated on Hantverkargatan 1, a ten-minute walk from T-centralen (Stockholm Central Station). Bus number 3 stops directly outside the City Hall at the stop called Stadshuset. Public transport schedules are available at www.sl.se. Taking pictures?
