The EAV garnered from the broadcast coverage of the Cathedral concert demonstrates the inherent value of having a high-profile show as the centrepiece of Festival, and bodes well for a series of concerts in 2013 having the potential for very significant coverage, both in region and nationally with the appointment and assistance in 2013 of FourBGB. Examples… http://www.itv.com/news/tyne-tees/2012-08-26/the-futureheads-play-durham-cathedral/ National Coverage – The Futureheads at Durham Cathedral There was coverage, either in the form of a listing or preview/review on the following websites… • Abacus Post • SongKick • ArtRocker • KYEO TV • BeatWolf • LiveMusic.fm • Stereoboard • UK Travel Blog • NME • AU Magazine • ManMade • aaaMusic • QCourt All those above have a national profile. Additionally there was specific web-based coverage on Tyne Tees, Sunderland Echo and Northern Echo sites, all of which included images, or video footage of The Futureheads singing in the Cloisters or Cathedral. I mention this because although they are local media sources, they ranked highly in Google and Bing searches for Futureheads and summer concerts/gigs and will therefore have had a viewing beyond the region. EAV for web content is almost impossible to measure, as web advertising is tailored to the preferences of the user, and ads often appear in rotation and are priced by impressions or click-through. Therefore the model of EAV used in print media cannot apply. It would also depend on having some idea of the volume of web traffic a site gets. Analytics are not generally public knowledge, and although we ‘know’ that the NME listings must have a high level of targeted, engaged traffic, it isn’t measurable by a third-party in any quantifiable or meaningful sense. .
