INTERNATIONAL SKATING UNION Communication No. 1854 Decisions of the ISU Council The ISU Council met on February 14, 17 and 20, 2014 in Sochi/Russia. The following were among the decisions taken by the ISU Council during the meeting: 1. ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating Final (junior & senior) 2014/15 The Council allotted the ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating Final (junior & senior) to the Spanish Ice Sports Federation, to be held on December 11-14, 2014 in Barcelona, Spain. 2. ISU Congress 2014, Dublin - Forum/workshops Based on proposals received from Members, the Council agreed upon the following topics for the Forum to be held during Monday, June 9, 2014: 1. The on-going activities of the ISU Sport disciplines - develop and improve the participation of the ISU Members and their Skaters, Officials etc. in the ISU activities; - improve the interest for the ISU Sports and their attractiveness for spectators, sponsors and media. 2. ISU Elections 2016/2018 Discussion of possible steps to find the right persons (candidates) for the right tasks (positions) within the ISU Bodies - develop a strategy and procedure; - logistical way of presentation; - learning by doing. The Council agreed that the Forum will be moderated by Council members Marie Lundmark and Roland Maillard and shall include 3 presenters identified by the Council, namely Mr. Tatsuro Matsumura (JPN), Mr. David Raith (USA), and Mr. Sergei Sviridov (RUS) who have all accepted the assignment. The Forum will be followed by the usual workshops on the Technical Rule proposals in line with Article 31, paragraph 9.iv) and Article 32, paragraph 9.iv) of the ISU Constitution. 1 3. ISU Challenger Series Figure Skating Mindful that the ISU support towards the ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating is restricted to a limited group of organizing Members, to a limited number of skaters and to a limited number of Officials, the ISU Council agreed to financially support a group of identified Members traditionally staging International Figure Skating Competitions starting with the season 2014/15. This ISU support has the objective to ensure the proper and consistent organization and conduct of the identified International Competitions, to give adequate opportunities for all skaters to compete at the international senior level and earn World Standing points and to increase the opportunity for Officials to officiate at an international level. Full details of this ISU support and related conditions are under preparation and will be published in a separate Communication. 4. Next Council meetings The Council will meet again On June 8, 14 & 15, 2014 in Dublin, Republic of Ireland On October 17-19, 2014 in Geneva, Switzerland On March 23-24, 2015 in Shanghai, China.
