Fernandez opened his routine to “The Barber of Seville” with a quadruple toeloop followed by a triple Salchow-triple toeloop combination and a triple Axel and three other triple jumps, however, he crashed on the quad Salchow and doubled the Lutz. The two-time World bronze medalist collected a level four for three spins and a level three for the footwork to score 173.25 points. He racked up 262.49 points overall. “This medal is more important than a regular European medal because it's three times in a row. Maybe I didn't do my best performance ever but it's a little bit more special than other medals as since 1989 nobody has won three European medals in a row”, the ISU Grand Prix Final silver medalist commented. Performing to “Exogenesis Symphony” by Muse, Kovtun struggled at the beginning with his quad Salchow, quad toe and triple Axel, but recovered to hit five triples and three level-four spins. The Russian Champion picked up 157.47 points and totaled 235.68 points to pull up from fourth to second.

    Battle for ISU Grand Prix Final Tickets Continues at Rostelecom Cup in Moscow

    November 13, 2019 Moscow, Russia Battle for ISU Grand Prix Final tickets continues at Rostelecom Cup in Moscow The battle for the tickets to the ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating Final becomes more and more exciting as the series gets to Rostelecom Cup, the fifth and penultimate event, in Moscow (RUS) this week. ISU World Figure Skating Ice Dance silver medalists Victoria Sinitsina/Nikita Katsapalov (RUS) have just won their first ISU Grand Prix gold medal at Shiseido Cup of China last week and want to seal their spot. Skate Canada Champions Alexandra Trusova (RUS), Piper Gilles/Paul Poirier (CAN) and Aleksandra Boikova/Dmitrii Kozlovskii (RUS) as well have good chances to qualify for the ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating Final in Torino (ITA). Sinitsina/Katsalapov (RUS), Uno (JPN), Medvedeva (RUS) headline Rostelecom Cup Internationaux de France silver medalist Alexander Samarin (RUS), Skate Canada silver medalist Nam Nguyen (CAN) and Skate America bronze medalist Dmitri Aliev (RUS) have the best chances to grab a spot in the Final. Meanwhile, Olympic silver medalist Shoma Uno (JPN) looks for redemption after finishing a disappointing eighth in Grenoble. Other contenders include 2018 Rostelecom Cup silver medalist Morisi Kvitelashvili (GEO), 2018 ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating Finalist Michal Brezina (CZE), Kazuki Tomono (JPN) and Deniss Vasiljevs (LAT). ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating Standings Men. In the Ladies event, ISU World Junior Figure Skating Champion Alexandra Trusova (RUS) is aiming at Torino after striking gold at Skate Canada. Two-time World medalist Satoko Miyahara (JPN) comes with a silver medal from Shiseido Cup of China last week and has the eyes set on the podium and a ticket to the Final as well.

    ISU JUNIOR GRAND PRIX OF FIGURE SKATING SERIES 2017/18 #JGPFigure Press Release October 16, 2017 Finalists for ISU Junior Grand Prix of Figure Skating Final are determined #JGPFigure Skaters from Australia, Canada, Japan, Russia and the USA have qualified for the ISU Junior Grand Prix of Figure Skating Final in Nagoya (JPN) in December. The last spots were determined when the series of seven qualifying events concluded in Egna (ITA) last weekend. Alexei Erokhov (RUS) and Alexei Krasnozhon (USA) lead the Men’s standings and claimed two gold medals on the circuit. Camden Pulkinen (USA), Mitsuki Sumoto (JPN), Makar Ignatov (RUS) and Andrew Torgashev (USA) booked their tickets to Nagoya as well. All except Krasnozhon qualified for the first time for the Final. The Russian Junior Ladies dominated the circuit and five of them proceed to the Final: Alexandra Trusova, Sofia Samodurova, Alena Kostornaia, Daria Panenkova and Anastasia Tarakanova. The field is completed by Rika Kihira (JPN), who is the only one to return to the ISU Junior Grand Prix Final. In the Pair Skating, World Junior Champions Ekaterina Alexandrovskaya / Harley Windsor (AUS) and World Junior silver medalists Aleksandra Boikova / Dmitrii Kozlovskii come back to the Junior Final while World Junior bronze medalists Yumeng Gao / Zhong Xie (CHN) made it for the first time. Newcomers are the top qualifiers Daria Pavliuchenko / Denis Khodykin (RUS) and Apollinariia Panfilova / Dmitry Rylov (RUS) while Anastasia Poluianova / Dmitry Sopot (RUS) were in the Final before, but with different partners.
