Use of Metwash within a Lead-in-blood control programme. The Company embarked on a comprehensive Lead-in-blood (LIB) reduction programme which has achieved a reduction in average employee LIB levels from 32.3µg/dl in 2012, to 15.4µg/dl in 2018. The use of Metwash, for handwashing and showering, was one of a series of measures that were put in place to help achieve the reduction in LIB levels. The following photographs demonstrate the superior Lead-removal capabilities of Metwash when compared to ordinary hand soap. Employees were asked to wipe a “wet-wipe” on their skin which is then sprayed with a disclosing solution. The solution indicates the presence of Lead by changing colour to red.
