• The performance will be held at Arts Centre , Hamer Hall. See map. • For further venue information and detailed Risk Assessment, see accompanying Hamer Hall and Theatres Building Induction Pamphlet

Duration of Performance

• The performance is 50 minutes in length, with no interval. • If you are booking a return bus, please allow for an additional 15-20 minutes to exit the theatre. Leaving during the performance can be very disruptive to the performers and audience members.

Arrival & Pedestrian Management Team

• Please arrive at least 30-40 minutes prior to your scheduled performance time to allow adequate time for your group to be ready and seated in time for the start of the concert • Please do not bring additional students on the day, unless this has been confirmed in writing by the MSO Box Office. These performances are at capacity and we are therefore unable to admit extras. • Please note that we will be working with Construct Traffic - a VicRoads approved traffic and pedestrian management team - to guide you safely to and from the venue. They will have lollipop staff stationed at the main St Kilda Road intersections.

By Chartered Bus

Main Zone The MSO has a designated drop-off and pick-up zone for chartered buses for these events at Boathouse Drive (enter via Alexandra Avenue). Please note that it is suggested that you plan to arrive 30-40 minutes before event start time to allow for the 5 minute walk to Hamer Hall and time for your students to use the bathroom prior to the performance starting. As mentioned, Construct Traffic will be onsite to guide you safely from this zone to the venue.

Alternate Option Public drop-off and pick-up zones for chartered buses are also located in the (city-bound) service lane of St Kilda Road outside the National Gallery of and Hamer Hall, however it is important that you note there is no parking permitted at these locations. Two hour bus parking is available opposite Arts Centre Melbourne along St Kilda Road and is regulated by the Melbourne City Council. For more details visit www.melbourne.vic.gov.au or call 03 9658 9658.

Please note if you choose to use this public bus zone you are doing so at your own risk. MSO does not have management of these areas for your use during these events. The only circumstances in which we suggest you may wish to use this zone is if you require special access, wheelchair and/or 2 / 3 have other mobility needs, however, the walk from the Main Zone in Boathouse Drive to Hamer Hall is entirely flat and wheelchair friendly.

Bathrooms

We recommend that bathrooms are best used before and after the performance, and where possible, only by those students actually requesting to go.

There will be over 1,700 students attending the same performance as your group and only a limited number of bathrooms, so to avoid long queues and overcrowding, please encourage those not needing to go to wait in the foyer with an accompanying teacher.

Cloaking Bags

At the venue there is very limited space for school bags and larger tubs that may include food and/or drink items. Where possible we suggest that you leave these items at school or on the bus. If you are not able to do so, these items will need to be left in the foyer and cannot be taken into the hall.

Lunch

Please note that food and drink will NOT be permitted inside the venue.

School lunches may be eaten on the lawn area between the Theatres Building and Hamer Hall or in the opposite Arts Centre Melbourne.

Late Arrivals

If you are running late on the day, please contact MSO Box Office on (03) 9929 9600 (Monday to Friday, 9am to 6pm). We may need to commence the show before your arrival, however in this instance the Ushers will seat your school when appropriate upon arrival so as not to disrupt the performers and other audience members.

Performance Etiquette

Whilst we encourage the students to respond naturally to the performance, speaking with other students or putting feet on seats can be very disruptive. We ask that you talk to your group about performance etiquette prior to the excursion. We also ask that you follow the directions of the Arts Centre Melbourne Staff to ensure the best possible experience for you and your studens.

It is recommended where possible that your group stays seated during the performance (unless encouraged to stand by the presenter) as to avoid disruption to the performers on stage and other audience members.

3 / 3 • Photography is permitted (no flash), video is NOT permitted • Please switch off your mobile phone and/or iPod.

The Box Office staff will be able to answer any further questions regarding photography permission. • Please note that it is important that your school confirms (either way) whether photo approval is permitted prior to your excursion so we are able to adequately brief the relevant staff regarding your group’s requirements and needs. • If you DO NOT permit your group (or select students within your group) to be photographed, please notify your Front of House representative upon arrival and they will issue relevant students with bright lapel stickers as a method of identification for our photographer.
