Barbara Dear Update: What Happened to the New Hymnals? M Short answer: they are in production and on the way Communications to us, but I misspoke last week as they are actually anticipated in August 2019. These are custom for Michelle Connors the entirety of the repertoire of music we draw from, including traditional and contemporary hymns and those used by our Spiritual Choir, as well as those by our Hispanic community choirs. I join you in Contributions expressing renewed gratitude to Dr. Mike Accurso, Diocesan and Cathedral Parish Director of Music & Records for his leadership in this regard, as well as in looking forward to the availability of a more permanent Shirley Hilliard resource for our use in our regular worship. Director of Facilities Paternity Leave M Congratulations to Brenda and Mike Accurso on the birth of their dear Elizabeth. David Heinske Mike has asked to take paternity leave to assist Brenda with their now two small children, beginning this week through the end of next month, as per our Diocesan policy in support of family life and feder- Faith Formation al law. Hispanic Ministry Welcome to New Staff M As you know, now with two campuses, which will be expanding, we have Olga Salas much greater stewardship to care and plan for all our facilities. Beginning last Monday, I am pleased to welcome to our staff, David Heinske, who will serve as Director of Facilities for both campuses. Steady work on planning and pricing has been ongoing since my arrival as pas- tor last summer, with our Parish Council, Finance Council and our Building Committee, staff and many Reception others working diligently on all the details. Katia Roebuck [email protected] Great news this last week with the presentation of our revised site plan for the Cathedral campus to our RCIA Diocesan Building and Real Estate Commission, who granted us unanimous approval! With this per- Fr. John A. Kane mission, we are now scheduling information sessions on the planned phases of construction, which will include not only the Cathedral campus, but also future plans for our downtown campus as well. With a Social Justice bias for action, note that the first phase of construction planned is now in the permitting process with Barbara Quinby, M.P.S. the City of Raleigh, expected to take a couple months for approval M everything takes time! Look for the upcoming dates for these information sessions as we continue to grow our campuses to meet our needs. Youth Ministry Elizabeth Queen What Happened to the Gift Shop? M Short answer: making steady progress and hopefully opening sometime in the Spring or early summer of this year. Many details, including a manager and volunteer staff, as well as the inventory and accounting work. Good news in that I have identified a parishioner who will manage the shop and whom I will shortly announce. Also, I have asked the Diocese to man- age the accounting work, given the many complexities and responsibilities which accompany a re- tail endeavor. As of now, I hope to schedule it to be open four days a week, which will include Sun- days for the convenience of our parishioners and pilgrims. Look for more details.
