Constantinople and Beyond Ksiros the Blood Will Flow Like the Bridle of the Horse, and Few Will Be Saved and Abide from the Re - Maining Armies SAINT IOANNIS DOUKAS VATATZIS SAINT IOANNIS DOUKAS VATATZIS, was born in 1193 in the historic castle of Thrace, in Didymoteicho. He came from a family, which was close to the royal senate, since his grand - father Constantine, the so called Vatatzis, was the Military Camp Commander of King Manuel Komnenos The remembrance of Saint Ioannis Vatatzis the Merciful is revered and cele - brated at Byzantine Didymoteicho on November 4th. There is a portable icon of the Saint as a treasure that bears his dismissal: There is also the Saint’s holy service and the Paraclete canon and his name is mentioned on the holy Synaxarion. “The brilliant king and the grand pride of the believers and the glory of the temples, Ioannis let us honor, in spiritual hymns and odes, giving honor to his memory, accordingly exclaiming Glory to those who glorify you, glory to those who crowned you, glory to those who heal everyone through you.” Saint Ioannis Vatatzis, Byzantine Emperor. - 1- The Altar Stone of Agia Sophia The Venetians took the miraculous and renowned Altar Stone of Agia Sophia precious and most beautiful from the temple and put it on a ship and as they rigged and sailed to Venice The Miracle! close to the island of Marmaras the ship opened and the Altar Stone fell into the sea and sunk and it lies there to this day, and this is obvious and witnessed by everyone, because at this spot in stormy weather the sea makes terrible waves, but on this spot where the Stone Altar lies it is peaceful and the sea is calm. - 2- Coin from the 1222-1254 period of the Emperor of Byzantium Ioannis Vatatzis showing from one side Ioannis being crowned by Holy Mary and the other by Christ. In these four years, 22 were improved and increased republish the book is printed in four languages (English, Greek, Russian and German). Many of the 22 thousand books that have been prin - ted, in Greek, English and Russian, are distributed in be - lievers that have requested copies of the edition from various areas of the planet: from the Monastery of Efraim in Arizona USA to Australia, Canada, Holland and Cy - prus, Greece, Mexico and Germany, as they are anxious about the worldwide events that they are about to hap - pen. Furthermore, thousands of users of the internet read the electronic version of the book on our site. More than 501.242 readers have been recorded from 109 countries until today. Most of the readers of the printed and electronic edi - tions, among them distinguished scientists and research - ers, express positive comments as much for the size of the research that had as a result for the first time to assemble - 7- in one single book 12 prophecies of equal prophets in number who speak about the 3rd World War and it is re - vealed for the first time that the Marble Emperor of By - zantium is Saint Ioannis Vatatzis. This particular Emperor and Saint of our Church is unfortunately ignored by the majority of the believers, even if his life is mentioned by the Holy Synaxarion and our Church has written the Holy Service (Saint Nikodimos Hagiorite) and the Paraclete Canon and honors his memory on November 4, (an Ex - ception constitutes the Metropolitan Bishop Damaskinos who inaugurated a Holy Temple in the memory of Saint Ioannis in Didymoteicho, the opening of which took place on November 4 2010). The book received recognition by many simple laics, distinguished Byzantinologists, Historians and Theolo - gists. The rare material and the written prophecies began co - ming true – unfortunately – from the events of the recent years. - 8- The Inauguration Ceremony of the Holy Temple of Saint Ioannis Vatatzis and then Vespers celebrated by the Very Re - verend Bishop of Didymoteicho, Orestiada and Soufli, Da - maskinos Constantine began and Constantine lost the Byzantium of the east People do not know anything about the Holy Emperor Ioannis Vatatzis and think that the marble Emperor who will rise is the last Emperor of Byzantium Constantine Palaiolo - gos. This is what Laic Tradition tells us. In reality, however, in the book it is not the Laic Tradition that speaks. Here there are 12 prophets who divined the on - coming world events that will shock humanity. - 9- PROLOGUE (Saint Ioannis Vatatzis the Six Fingered, emperor of Byzantium, the Great Beneficiary) For almost three decades I have shared with other patriots and Christians the agony for the potential third world war and the ordeal of Hellenism and humanity in general. Through the legends and laic traditions. These legends spoke about the “marble king”, who is six finge - red and has left his work incomplete, which, with the help of God, he will rise to complete. But who is this “marble Emperor”? Where is his role mentioned and how does it relate to the future events for the wider area? For the research of the identity of this person, which re - lates, as I already mentioned, to the devastating for Hel - lenism future events, I spent myself on a struggle of gathering all the prophecies referring to the savior empe - ror. The material was difficult to find and scattered, and for this reason the effort lasted about twenty five years. (I did the research in Mount Athos, Jerusalem and all the Monasteries of Greece). From the study of twelve prophecies that I gathered and publish in the following pages of the book, I conclu - ded that the six fingered marble king is Ioannis Vatatzis, emperor of Byzantium, who was six fingered and was also called “the great beneficiary”. I owe thanks to the late of blessed memory Metropoli - - 10 - tan of Messinia of G.O.C. Gregorios, who confirmed my estimations, along with the Hagiorites: the late of blessed memory Abbot Efthimios of Esphigmenou and the asce - tics brothers Nanopoulos, fathers Theofilaktos and Pan - teleimon. A confirmation was also done by the bishop of Ma - gnesia G.O.C. Maximos and other ascetics of Mount Athos. Finally, I would like to note that I kept the way of wri - ting and syntax of the prophecies, exactly as tradition re - scued them till today. How will the Emperor by resurrected? We respond: “as God wishes it, the natural order is defeated”. For the first time a prophetic book was written in Gre - ece, exclusively about the Six Fingered Marble Emperor, Saint Ioannis Vatatzis and for what will take place in By - zantium. - 11 - Saint Andreas the Holy Fool in Christ The Mediterranean ships as brushwood will be blown to the wind, on the land from Constantinople and beyond Ksiros the blood will flow like the bridle of the horse, and few will be saved and abide from the re - maining armies. - 12 - - 13 - Presentation of the statistics for The Marble Emperor From 01/01/2012 to 08/12/2012. His general life was translated by Niko - demus the Hagiorite in a simple form, from which he summarized this here re - corded Synaxarion, but also the com - plete chant service from the beginning elaborated himself, the holy Nikodemus, in his royal majesty. This King Ioannis in Christ, had as mother country the great city of Andrianoupolis, and had ancestors the first of the Royal Senate, as his grandfather Constantine, the so called Vatatzis, was Camp Commander of the King Manuel Komnenos, in the year 1143. After the parents of this King died, a lot of wealth passed to him, which he gave to the poor, and spent to dedications to Holy Tem - ples and Churches. Then he marched to Nymphaeum in Bithynia, where was the Palace and the seat of the Kings of Constantino - ple. There he found the uncle from his father, being a cle - ric and priest by the reigning King Theodore Laskaris in the year 1206. Through his uncle he became friend of the King, but did not take pride of this friendship, but treated - 16 - everyone humbly, and he was loved by everyone, he had a humble character and lived a prudent life.

A Letter to Pope Francis Concerning His Past, the Abysmal State of Papism, and a Plea to Return to Holy Orthodoxy The lengthy letter that follows was written by His Eminence, the Metropolitan of Piraeus, Seraphim, and His Eminence, the Metropolitan of Dryinoupolis, Andrew, both of the Church of Greece. It was sent to Pope Francis on April 10, 2014. The Orthodox Christian Information Center (OrthodoxInfo.com) assisted in editing the English translation. It was posted on OrthodoxInfo.com on Great and Holy Monday, April 14, 2014. The above title was added for the English version and did not appear in the Greek text. Metropolitan Seraphim is well known and loved in Greece for his defense of Orthodoxy, his strong stance against ecumenism, and for the philanthropic work carried out in his Metropolis (http://www.imp.gr/). His Metropolis is also well known for Greece’s first and best ecclesiastical radio station: http://www.pe912fm.com/. This radio station is one of the most important tools for Orthodox outreach in Greece. Metropolitan Seraphim was born in 1956 in Athens. He studied law and theology, receiving his master’s degree and his license to practice law. In 1980 he was tonsured a monk and ordained to the holy diaconate and the priesthood by His Beatitude Seraphim of blessed memory, Archbishop of Athens and All Greece. He served as the rector of various churches and as the head ecclesiastical judge for the Archdiocese of Athens (1983) and as the Secretary of the Synodal Court of the Church of Greece (1985-2000). In December of 2000 the Holy Synod of the Ecumenical Patriarch elected him as an auxiliary bishop of the Holy Archdiocese of Australia in which he served until 2002.

  • Illyrian Religion and Nation As Zero Institution
Studies in Visual Arts and Communication: an international journal Vol 3, No 1 (2016) on-line ISSN 2393 - 1221 Illyrian religion and nation as zero institution Josipa Lulić * Abstract The main theoretical and philosophical framework for this paper are Louis Althusser's writings on ideology, and ideological state apparatuses, as well as Rastko Močnik’s writings on ideology and on the nation as the zero institution. This theoretical framework is crucial for deconstructing some basic tenants in writing on the religious sculpture in Roman Dalmatia, and the implicit theoretical constructs that govern the possibilities of thought on this particular subject. This paper demonstrates how the ideological construct of nation that ensures the reproduction of relations of production of modern societies is often implicitly or explicitly projected into the past, as trans-historical construct, thus soliciting anachronistic interpretations of the material remains of past societies. This paper uses the interpretation of religious sculpture in Roman Dalmatia as a case study to stress the importance of the critique of ideology in the art history. The religious sculpture in Roman Dalmatia has been researched almost exclusively through the search for the presumed elements of Illyrian religion in visual representations; the formulation of the research hypothesis was firmly rooted into the idea of nation as zero institution, which served as the default framework for various interpretations. In this paper I try to offer some alternative interpretations, intending not to give definite answers, but to open new spaces for research. Keywords: Roman sculpture, province of Dalmatia, nation as zero institution, ideology, Rastko Močnik, Louis Althusser.

Izvorni naučni rad Josip MILETIĆ (Zadar) University of Zadar [email protected] Tea TEREZA VIDOVIĆ-SCHREIBER (Split) University of Split [email protected] DALMATIA – BETTIZA’S LOST HOMELAND The paper analyses the potential of Bettiza’s fiction for the deve- lopment of Croatian and Italian cultural relations as well as tourist promotion of the Croatian historical region of Dalmatia. Particular attention is focused on the novel Exile, in which the author writes a family chronicle by evoking his Split roots. At the same time, he describes the atmosphere, customs and picturesque figures of Dal- matian towns in the interwar period, the encounter of Slavic and Roman culture, as well as the destiny of the Italian population there who, due to the turmoil of war and socialist revolution, decided to leave their homeland. Reception of Bettiza’s work, as an account of an individual history that is completely different from the written (national), the collective history, can positively affect the Italian perception of Dalmatia as a tourist destination, and it can improve the distorted image of Croats living there, which has been created for decades in Italy, through the activist action of extreme groups, therefore it can be of multiple use. Proving that not all Italians for- cibly left their former homeland, but that a part of them left freely seeking a better life for themselves and their families not seeing any perspective in the upcoming communism, allows for the constructi- on of bridges between Slavic and Roman culture, and an even better and more effective tourism promotion of this Croatian region in the context of Italian tourist interests.

  • The Influence of Islam on Albanian Culture
The Influence of Islam on Albanian Culture Fatmir Shehu ∗ Abstract This paper examines the influence of Islam on Albanian culture. The Islamization process of the Albanian culture was very crucial for the Albanians themselves as it gave them a new identity, which they lacked since their settlement on the Adriatic shores. According to history, Albanians, the biggest Muslim nation dwelling in the Balkans, South-East of Europe, are believed to be the descendents of the ancient Illyrians, who settled in Europe around 2500 years ago. They lived a social life based on tribalism, where every tribe had established its own cultural system and way of life. Thus, their cultural differences disallowed them to unite. Such situation did not change, even when Christianity was introduced to them. Because, Christianity came to Albania through two great dominations: Christian Catholics of Vatican (the Northern part of Albanian) and Christian Orthodox of Greece (the Southern part of Albania). The continuous religious and political suppression faced by the Albanians from their Byzantine and Latin masters enabled them to be the first people of the Balkans, who welcomed openheartedly the Ottoman Muslims and embraced Islam as their new way of life in the 15th century. The study focuses on the following issues: (1) Historical background of Albania and Albanians; (2) The genesis of Albanian culture; and (3) The process of integration between Islamic culture and Albanian culture. This research attempts to provide important findings, which will be very helpful to the Muslims and others.

It is time, it is the twelfth hour, for certain of our ecclesiastical representatives to stop being exclusively slaves of nationalism and politics, no matter what and whose, and become high priests and priests of the One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church. With the individual wielding unprecedented power to decide her own path in life, we find it ever harder to make commitments. We thus live in an increasingly lonely world of unravelling commitments and families. Yuval Noah Harari, (2014). The Dalmatian Coast Where the Balkans Meet The Mediterranean September 19th - 28th 2020 The beauty of the long, rugged Dalmatian Coast, backed by high mountains with hundreds of offshore islands, remains one of Europe’s best- kept secrets. Stretching from the Bay of Kotor in Montenegro in the south, to the coast of Slovenia in the north, the region was named by the Romans after the Illyrian tribe, the Dalmatae, living in the area. We begin our adventures in the fabulous walled city of Dubrovnik, known as “the Pearl of the Adriatic,” above all because of its great wealth of heritage in the arts and history. The Irish playwright Dubrovnik and Nobel prize winner, George Bernard Shaw, once remarked that “Those who seek heaven on earth must come to Dubrovnik.” From Dubrovnik, we work our way north up the coast to the Istrian Peninsula. On the way we’ll stop to explore the ancient cities of Zadar and Split. Finally we cross the border into Italy, spending a final night in the port city of Trieste. You will be amazed to learn that their recent history included a long, unsettling period of sectarianism that stretched out over centuries. It is hard believe it could ever have happened to such warm, welcoming people living in such beautiful surroundings.
