The Mane Events The Mane Events Fall 2020 Volume 26, Issue 1 Fudge Fest 2020!!! It’s our 6th annual Fudge Fest! This fundraiser is the largest fundraiser for our school and we’ve added a couple of exciting items this year. The first is a sponsorship program (see page 2), the sec- ond is a website (columbuschristian.org/fudge) where you can simply go online, order your fudge, and pay with a card. With these new additions we have boosted our sales quite a bit! We also added incentives for our students this year. They can win lanyards/bracelets once they sell 10 boxes, a mini candy bouquet if they sell 30 boxes, and a mystery trip (after covid restrictions are eased) if they sell 40 boxes as an individually or 60 boxes as a family! The students have really re- sponded and are doing fantastic with their sales this year! This year, the school board decided to believe for BIG results and challenged us with a BIG goal! Our goal is $17,000 in fudge sales and/or sponsorships. So far we have more than $10,000! Could you help us get us over the finish line? You have from now until November 11th to get place your order. It is not always easy to fulfill this mandate—one does not always feel joyful. But by faith, we choose joy and we encourage our students to choose joy as well. The hallmark of Chrisitanity is that we don’t live by what we see, hear, or feel but we live according to the Word of God –...though you have not seen him, you love him; even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy, for you are receiving the end result of your faith, the salvation of your souls. 1 Peter 1:8-9 Grasping hold of the promise in this verse, “you...are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy”, a person can realize that it really comes down to choosing to allow God to fill us with that joy—we have Jesus and truly that is enough to fill my heart clear to the brim and overflow- ing—It is joy unspeakable and full of glory! -Liana Holt, CCS Office Manager Calendar of Events Vision Doug Holt, VP of the Board November Vision: the ability to think about or plan the 11/27-11/29 NO School - Happy future with imagination or wisdom. By using wisdom and faith we can see CCS families working together to meet the 12/18 CCS Christmas Program needs of our school-now and in the future. We 7:00 pm First Baptist know we can’t do this alone, it takes everyone Church of us who care about CCS to be involved in moving this school into the next chapter of 12/22 2nd Quarter Ends growth. Looking to the past for wisdom, and into the future with faith, we remain faithful to 12/23-1/4 Christmas Break the call. How do you see the school in five years, 1/5 Professional Development ten years? A story I once heard told about two Day inmates in a jail cell looking out the window at January night, one said to the other inmate “look at all the stars in the sky”, the other said “all I see is 1/6/2020 School Resumes bars”. The moral of this story is both were right. When you look into the future of CCS, TBD Soup Supper (Jan. or Feb.) are you looking for the stars or are the bars in your way today? Look again, there are people at CCS that are leaning over the edge, looking for a path of growth; help anchor them as they forge a path we all can follow. I believe God has a plan for CCS and it’s a plan for success, a plan for life, a plan for victory and growth. 4 Preschool –Miss Megan We are pleased to have our pre- school program up and running this year! Megan Stocker is our new di- rector and has some great vision for enhancing and growing this pro- gram. She and her husband have recently moved to Columbus and are expecting thier first child in December! The preschool class was able to take the ever-popular pumpkin patch trip to Poppy’s Pumpkin Patch. The class met together at the pumpkin patch to enjoy the beautiful fall day. Kindergarten & 1st Grade ”Remember” -Mrs. Wieberdink In Kindergarten and First grade we have been learning about how God took care of the children of Israel. After God opened the Jordan River for them to cross, they gath- ered 12 stones to REMEMBER what God had done for them and so that they could RE- MEMBER to tell their children. We made and painted stones of REMEMBRANCE to help us RE- MEMBER what God has done and so we can tell our children. These are the things our class remem- bers that God has done. • Tandem Calendar Helps Schools Communicate with Parents About Events
Tandem Calendar Helps Schools Communicate with Parents about Events Parents can customize a calendar that relates only to their child’s school or activit ies. Richmond Public Schools (RPS) is working with Intand, an online calendaring company, to provide school events and activities in an online format. The calendar, called “Tandem,” can be filtered and customized by the user to show only the events that are relevant for the user. RPS’s Tandem calendar shows all events for each school. Each school’s events are listed under the school’s unique initials. You can filter the calendar by selecting the “filter” option above the monthly calendar. You can then select the school(s) that you would like to see and then se lect “Filter.” You can also search for events by selecting the “search” option above the calendar and then entering key terms. Benefits of Starting a “My Tandem” Account The Tandem calendar can be used without signing in or setting up an account. However, there are benefits to signing up for an account. Here are some of those benefits: • You will have the ability to track events in your Outlook, iCal, Google, Cozi, Windows Live, Yahoo (Beta) or 30 Boxes Calendar. • You will receive notifications via e-mail if events you are tracking are modified or cancelled. • Filters are saved so that each time that you log-in, you will see only those events that you have requested. • Registered users can receive RSS feeds about events or groups that they are currently tracking. How to Sign Up for a “My Tandem” Account To sign-up for an account, go to the calendar, then select “Sign In” at the top right-hand corner of the Webpage.

The most popular usecase is to synchronize a server with a local folder and use a set of other programs to change the local events and contacts. Vdirsyncer can then synchronize those changes back to the server. However, vdirsyncer is not limited to synchronizing between clients and servers. It can also be used to synchronize calendars and/or addressbooks between two servers directly. It aims to be for calendars and contacts what OfflineIMAP is for emails. • Caldav on a Mobile Device
Master Thesis CalDAV on a Mobile Device Martin Hellaeus April 4, 2007 Department of Computer Science Lund Institute of Technology Supervisor: Lennart Ohlsson Abstract There are today many solutions for exchanging calendar information. How- ever, there is no open standard for this yet. This has resulted in many different solutions that are not able to fully communicate and exchange cal- endar data. A proposal to solve this is CalDAV that is intended to be a standard protocol for transport of calendar data over HTTP. This thesis presents the calendaring situation of today and, if and what CalDAV can improve. Another topic that is dealt with is if CalDAV is suited also for mobile devices. During the work an application has been developed. It is a calendar client that uses the CalDAV protocol to connect to servers and fetch calendar data from it. The application is intended for use in a mobile device.
