The Paracletian November 2018 Issue 2 Paracelete Student Publication Ode to the Gav: A Hummina Homily By: Matt Nelsen Mr. Gavel was a special person. He lived his life to the fullest and did his utmost to provide a good, protective, and welcoming environment for the students at Paraclete. He will be remembered for all the crazy stunts he pulled, and his wacky staff photographs. I had the privilege of hav- ing him as a teacher, and as a friend. Mr. Gavel’s death has left a huge hole in the Paraclete family, but it is one that we should all commit to filling. Be a good person. Be like Gavel. A Memorial Poem By Matt Nelsen “Children of God!, Humana!” The voices of past shout. The woes of day heavy the halls, A Champions been slain. The day grows darker, colder, longer, The baskets lose their occupier, The banner it’s namesake. The balls grow flatter, The court more quiet.
