The Paracletian November 2018 Issue 2 Paracelete Student Publication Ode to the Gav: A Hummina Homily By: Matt Nelsen Mr. Gavel was a special person. He lived his life to the fullest and did his utmost to provide a good, protective, and welcoming environment for the students at Paraclete. He will be remembered for all the crazy stunts he pulled, and his wacky staff photographs. I had the privilege of hav- ing him as a teacher, and as a friend. Mr. Gavel’s death has left a huge hole in the Paraclete family, but it is one that we should all commit to filling. Be a good person. Be like Gavel. A Memorial Poem By Matt Nelsen “Children of God!, Humana!” The voices of past shout. The woes of day heavy the halls, A Champions been slain. The day grows darker, colder, longer, The baskets lose their occupier, The banner it’s namesake. The balls grow flatter, The court more quiet. Read the full poem in the religion section.
