5 FWP ANNOUNCES DATES FOR ITS 2018-19 SEASON SETTING MEETINGS (BOZEMAN, Mont.)—Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks will hold public meetings throughout the state in January to provide information, answer questions, and gather input on the 2018-19 hunting season pro- posals adopted by the Montana Fish and Wildlife Commission earlier this month. The public meeting schedule for Region 3 is listed below: January 3: Whitehall Whitehall High School 6 p.m.–8 p.m. January 4: Bozeman Holiday Inn-Bozeman 6 p.m.–8 p.m. January 9: Butte United Congregational Church 6 p.m.–8 p.m. January 10: Livingston Yellowstone Pioneer Lodge 6 p.m.–8 p.m. January 11: Helena Montana Wild 5:30 p.m.–7:30 p.m. January 11: Dillon Search & Rescue Building 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. January 16: Lima Lima School 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. January 18: Gardiner Gardiner High School 6 p.m. – 8 p.m.

Season structures and hunting district boundaries are adopted biennially for most game species. This happens every other year between December and final adoptions by the Fish and Wildlife Commission in February. In proposing regulations to the Commission, FWP proposes adopting the existing 2017structure except for specif- ic changes. Proposals are based on population status or other circumstances.

For more information on season proposals, or to comment, go to fwp.mt.gov and click on the link for Biennial Season Setting.

The deadline for public comment is 5 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2018. Final adoption of the regulations will occur Feb. 15, 2018. Or what about losing FFA, speech & debate or the foreign language program?

We need to hear from you. Decisions affecting the future of Gardiner Schools will be made in the com- ing months due to significant financial challenges, to the tune of >$400,000. Time is of the essence, and while no decisions have been made thus far, final votes will be made by the end of February 2018. We ask you to attend these meetings (listed below) over the next 3 months.

As you would hope and expect, the school board and administration have been amassing every bit of fi- nancial, facilities and operational data to address this issue and the largest piece still currently missing, quite frankly, is YOU. As your representatives, the board cannot, in good conscience, make such sweep- ing decisions without your input. We are facing some of the greatest challenges in the school’s history and the decisions we make in the coming months will deeply affect programs, teachers, staff, administra- tion, students, parents, friends, family and neighbors, long into the future.

If you can attend the scheduled meetings, or even if you cannot, please also consider calling or writing the school board trustees (contact info below). We want to hear from you and welcome your input. Though no decisions have been made yet, what you share with us could greatly affect what comes to pass.

Should you wish to become more involved or help raise funds, please consider contacting the newly formed North Yellowstone Education Foundation/Boosters Club at email at: [email protected].
